Re: The Bar, Volume #4
Okay I lied a few weeks ago when I said I don't panic till a week before. That used to be the case but now i'm working 6 days a week and time is running out too quick. In reality I only have 5 more project days till I leave. Would probably just be better off if I stopped thinking about it.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

yggy, you ever tried frosted mini-wheats put in a blender with bacon salt? Sweet and salty, and BACONY.............lol I got your smoothie right there.ygmir wrote:yay Rhino!! I was hoping you'd chime in, I remembered you'd analyzed the dust, but couldn't find the thread.
though now you've sort of spoiled my slow progression to getting someone to offer playa smoothies with electrolytes and fiber.

hey guys. i have to announce a slight change in my plans. i was hoping to spend some time seeing what the other side of BRC looked like (you know that bit past center camp) but it looks like nearly all the cool camps are within a drunken stagger of barbie death camp.
sorry for you lot over in the slums of 7+ but it looks like all the cool kids are near me this year!

Bwahahahahahahaha (((Grai))) I thought we had all the coolest kids in our own camp.
I too have passed the Prep Event Horizon; I have no time left to fool around and think of new things I want to make. FINISH THE PROJECTS now. Gosh why do I feel so tired.
So looking forward to seeing all of you.

Play the elitist hipster/cool kids card all you want, Grai, it's your burn. It's not like you have a chance in hell of seeing everything anyways, filter things in whatever way you like. I like to leave my options open, and just kind of see where the adventure takes me.
Prep event horizon, hehehe.. similar to the term I use, playa prep horizon. I passed mine a little while back, after that date it's no new projects, and start being on the lookout for things that might either need reinforcements, or need to get shut down and put off until some other time.

And I can't wait to see you, MDF!
It's also worth noting that we'll be a short stumble away from Pancake Playhouse (in the 9:00 plaza), and some new tasty-sounding operation called The Breakfast Club (also in the 9 plaza), for those doing the early-in-the-day tours. Otherwise, we'll be on your way to Distrikt (biggest daytime bar in the world), and near a whole bunch of other awesome camps.
I have a wonderful little gem to share with you this morning. Taken by my friend DA from playa restoration, who's recently arrived playa-side. He'll be out there for the next 2+ months, first helping BRC to take form and then later to lead that last line of defense. This morning's playa sky, taken at 5:42am. Time to get 'er done.

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
We haven't started any of the work yet, Ygmir, the molasses is why we need to do it. We've been steadily growing over the last couple years, to the point where around the beginning of July we were near this server's capacity. Then when our hosts did some back-end maintenance over independence day weekend, that cut down our bandwidth and caused the site to go into conniptions. Slow-slow stuff and timeouts for some. Even when they finished we continued to have some issues. There's some hardware work that needs to be done (moving to a bigger, more powerful, and larger capacity system) and some software work (think of it as a tune-up), both of them should be happening tonight.

I want to thank my sisters and Andy for the most beautiful, therapeutic visit they blessed me with over the last couple of days.
Mundane moments were replaced with gales of laughter and periods so touching they soothed and fulfilled some painfully empty places within me.
We were one again.
I'm going to float on that one for a while.
THANK YOU, guys. We love you!!!!

And Airport Street is misleading, since it is nowhere near the BRC air field. (But... I don't complain about anything around here! It's just a thought.)

Delle, you have no idea how wonderful it was for us, too. Being there in that beautiful home with you once again, laughing and remembering and making brand new memories was just what I needed. I have been revived!
Now Andy knows all three of my sisters, and he agrees with me that I have the very best sisters in the entire world!
Hopefully, it won't be so long before we can do it again.
How about end of August?
remember... I have a ticket just for you...

What a wonderful bar today!
full of fun and games like the best of places, so looking forward to actually being in the best of places - i just hope mdf has made a list of places to go, because like i err can't for some reason i haven't invented yet.
it is now EXCATLY 5 weeks to lift off. when i shall start by fleecing the french for all the free alcohol i can fit in my pockets. Last time i flew air france I got wine for breakfast, so as it is 3 flights to get to Reno I am hoping to get enough booze to stun a rhino.
