Anyhow, the three things combined spelled intermittently terrible performance, and connection timeouts happening a lot for some users. Even after our cloud server overlords finished up their stuff, we've wrestled with performance issues. For the short term we've reverted to the previous server backup strategy, and some behind-the-scenes tweaks (and a good swift kick or two) have helped improve performance a little. For a longer term solution (significantly increasing our capacity), we need to take the board down for a bit.
We're scheduling that down time for the night of July 16. Starting at 10pm 9pm PDT on July 16, and continuing until around 2am PDT on the morning of July 17, ePlaya will be offline for maintenance and improvements. Sorry for any inconvenience that the downtime will cause, but the increased capacity will keep us from experiencing performance problems or outages as we head into the home stretch for this year's burn.
