Burner Express shuttle buses
Burner Express shuttle buses
Hi all..
I noticed "burner Express shuttle buses between Reno and BRC!" on the travel information page,
(http://www.burningman.com/preparation/t ... eWOP40cd2s)
and was wondering if anyone has heard anything about it.

Re: Burner Express shuttle buses
The shuttle service sounds like something new. I'll be interested to see more info when it's available.
There was a BioBus that did shuttles for a reasonable fee a few years back, but they got a big fine for operating a bus service without a license and haven't done it since.

Looks like it might be a brand new thing if the page says "Coming Soon".
Add yourself to the Jack Rabbit Speaks email newsletter if you haven't. When more info on the shuttle is available, I suspect JRS will be one of the places that says so, 'cause a shuttle is big news.

Re: Burner Express shuttle buses
There was some form of bus service last year as well - there is a thread on here someplace about it with various comments about it. I think this is the one: http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?t=62269
Sound like you may be referring to something else - but that thread should alert you to possible pitfalls.
I do know that they moved the pickup point mid burn out to somewhere around 6 and H or so because we gave several passengers a lift to it with the MV.

Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Up until a couple of months ago to flame(http://brc.toflame.com/) was listed on the transportation page.
Now its been replaced by the "coming soon" message. Either a Borg run or any shuttle would
be a good thing, and couldn't be anyworse than the numerous bus trips I've taken in thirdworld countries,
or the much missed fung wah in boston where time to time you may be traveling next to a chicken cage.

Re: Burner Express shuttle buses
The only shuttle bus that Burning Man operates travels between BRC, Empire, and Gerlach. It's linked on the travel page from the first post in this thread, and the info on that shuttle can be found here.
The Burner Express operation would be a third party company.

I figured as much, the
"Coming soon! Information about the Burner Express shuttle buses between Reno and BRC!" quote
from the travel page and the removal of the To Flame link that was there previously had me curious
as to what they were planning.

Re: Burner Express shuttle buses
I stand corrected - it wasn't so much a placeholder for a new 3rd party listing so much as a placeholder for an upcoming announcement.
Here's the announcement crosspost. It's being done as a partnership between Burning Man and BusBank. In addition to the blog, there's an info page, FAQ, and link to the Burner Express site which has additional information and appears to be taking bookings starting....now!
