Say... I'm leaving later today for a Kinetic race in Corvallis, Oregon. There will be opportunities both Saturday and Sunday to watch me make a royal fool of myself -- as usual. Google daVinci Days for details.

**coughs**
Bullshit.
**coughs again**
Those three are labradorite and albite-dominated igneous rocks. Moh's hardnesses of 5 to 6 1/2. Missouri Red is quartz dominant, unmetamorphosed granite. Mohs's hardnesses of 6 1/2 to 7.
See the Missouri Red? It's laughing at both of us.

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
I love that pic from this morning, Ygmir, they're my sentiments exactly. A lot of my day was hurry up and wait, and things seemed to take much longer than expected. And it's day two of me not being able to get over to the lumber yard and then go play on the laser. All last week the production machine was available for booking, and then a combination of my schedule being wacky and the laser being booked up mean I can't get to that work. So I shuffled some things around. Had a delivery coming today I had to wait for, it took forever to get here, and then what I thought was going to be a minor little other project turned into lotsa work. On the upside, I managed to pull together a ziggurat video update clip. Now to try and grab a bite before campmates get over here for painting tonight...

Hello all you lovely people.
I can't tell you how great it is to finally get back on here, sheesh, it's been so slow-loading I could not see a thing.
And, I have had a hard day but ultimately a very good one, so...
Let's have a drink.

Good morning, Bar!
After spending some top- quality time with all three of my lovely sisters and my very sweet Mom, we're on our way back to NC, via NJ, where I got to meet some of Andy's good old buddies. Stopped last night in Harrisonburg, VA, and we'll be on the road again soon.
It's hard to figure out what day it is anymore. This must be what it's like to be retired! Not a bad thing, at all.
TTITD is fast approaching... I can hardly wait!
Happy Friday to all!!

Friday? Yeah?
No bread for toast. Hmmm. I have some stale pita bread. Cereal, but no milk, just some leftover half n half for making ice cream. Eplaya, tell me what to eat! And yes, breakfast must involve carbs or I can't function. Come on eplaya, you always answer inane questions, so just do this for me.
Wait, what? Not page two? Fuck.

I'm in the same boat, no regular bread or milk in the joint. We might have some crescent rolls in there somewhere, but that kind of steps things up into a bigger production...

Yup, we have a couple tubes of sweet roll dough left over from E-11, but I'm not going to bake up a pan of cinnamon rolls if I'm the only one in the house for a few days!
I decided on ghee and lime marmalade on one half of the pita, and maple peanut butter on the other half. But yeah, I will need to bake bread today or tomorrow unless someone wants to take me to the commissary.

dang AntiM......if I could see in your cupboard, I'm sure I could come up with something! I'm a very inventive chef.......
from what I can see, you could make pita bread french toast?............
HI Triken!
hhaha, so, I have a meeting with a county road guy.........I was having clean fill dumped on my property, off the side of the county road, when a "neighbor" from .5 miles away, literally blocked the dump trucks with his car, yelling at me that he does not like me dumping dirt!! (he's about 80). I said: "but, it's my land"
he said "I don't care, I don't like it, and you can't do it, and I'm calling the police."
I said fine.........he'd still not move his car, blocking two 10 wheel dumps, and the entire road!!
It took me 40 minutes to convince him to leave, so the road can clear.......and considerable cussing.
So, I called the county to find out any rules.......they said it sounded like what I was doing was ok, but they'd send a person out to see and make sure........dang,my own property, and I can't dump clean dirt?......egad!!
I did go down later, and apologize for cursing at the old man........I told him all my opinion remains, but, I was wrong to use that language with him.......dang it. He accepted my apology as given.

My favorite is still the black flint we used to get around McMinnville, Tennessee when I was still tromping around that state. It occurs as nodules in the Fort Payne Formation surrounding the central highland rim in the state. It was competent enough to make anything from large spear points down to the small 'bird points' and was prized during Indian occupation by the Cherokee and Creek nations.
Here in Missouri, we have loads of chert of all types and colors that qualify as knapping flint. Quality varies.
You tried obsidian?
That stuff is so sharp, it's STILL used in surgical knives. I have an obsidian knife at home, and it cuts through paper like butter. The big nightmare for rangers at Yellowstone is still a busload of geology students with rock hammers headed towards Obsidan Cliff. Collecting there without a permit is still illegal and prosecuted.
