Yet they get the best placement and have all the amenities of the plug n pay/play camps.

I'd say one simple line in the sand not to cross would be giving placement to camps that use paid employees to work in the camps at the BM festival while the festival is going on to take care of basic camping needs for able bodied attendees.

i say we just dont let people from sacramento in to the burn, just because, you know, they are from Sac...

and that place is a bigger shithole than Utica, NY...

sounds perfectly logical to me.

Radical self-reliance: the ability to keep ones nose unbent, horizontal and firmly inside your own camp if you dont like your PNP neighbors. Alternatively, moving your camp if your neighbors desire for extreme comfort is harshing your burn. Or putting your tickets into STEP if the "new" Burning Man offends your "old school" sensibilities. Or making your own event, elsewhere, cheaper, better, Burnier, etc. ("That Thing In The Corn Field"???)

Inclusion: "hey, cool butler! You guys are both invited over for drinks at sunset. Ever hear of The Howl? No? We will show you!"

There will ALWAYS be PNPs on the playa. The best way to minimize their impact is to include them, get them dusty, and show them how you burn.

whyfor ? seems like an arbitrary and silly limit.

TONS of people are making a profit off of us during the burn!! why draw the line at 'staff people inside of the camp!!' at this point.. ?

$973,142 <-- rental fees in 2012
$851,449 <-- toilet fees in 2012
$462,938 <-- dust abatement in 2012
$403,058 <-- ticket vendor costs in 2012
$405,976 <-- medical contracting costs in 2012
$176,254 <-- fire safety costs in 2012

i cant see how quietly providing services in camp really is a huge impact on someone else...

You guys won this debate. I will never mention plug and play on this chat site again or visit such threads, and I will not discourage plug and plays as an option to people I meet at regional events who are curious about Burning Man. Plug and plays: in. Costumes: out. Feathers: in. What's next?

Sig Line: "Should have stayed at center camp!"

And I seem to remember a photo of a couple taken with The Hat.

Did'nt see any sign of berating or flipping off The Hat for his camp and amenities, or staying away from that camp in protest! :?

I'll bet you a MILLION dollars, that you do NOT know the back story to that Sig Line! As far as the HAT goes, The Hat can do whatever he fucking wants, IMHO. It's his baby.

I have changed my position to being pro-plug and play and now embrace the idea that paying money for accommodations can supercede radical self-reliance. I am also now considering taking a pro-MOOP stance, and I suspect that many here will join together in popular opposing opinion in favor that BM remains a LNT event.

And how "lazy" can they be if they worked hard enough to afford a "five star" Burning Man experience?
