Ratty - best thing to coat your zipper with on the playa... chapstick (or whatever waxy lip balm you use). Ideal for tents, pants, or any other zippy things you've got out there.
Got my generator maintenance done. It was already pretty clean from post-playa care and still running alright, but changed the oil, replaced the spark plug, and cleaned the filters. Starts and runs like new and ready to go.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Happy to report I was just connected with a ticket. Guess I'm going after all!
The purchase will be my one thing for the day, though between now and go time I'm sure I'll be plenty busy each day with preparations.

Congratulations, BoyScoutGirl!
I didn't even know you were looking.
(Maybe I just missed your Tickets Wanted thread, but you can be more vocal than you were about it. Burners wanna sell to acquaintances!)

It has a thicker scrim (the mesh grid in the tape) and a special adhesive formula. They say it won't leave any residue when removed in 6 months. I've pulled it off after a year and it didn't leave any gummy crap at all.
But, the adhesive is adhesivy as hell. It won't be coming off until you take it off.
I get mine on Amazom for about $20 a roll.
I use it for almost everything except for non-critical things. Those get mummified with the dollar store stuff.

Recent hiking and camping. Cut my legs up, gashed my knee….on something….sometime….? Didn’t notice until others indicated the blood to me. Hit a stretch of cliff-lined creek that was over my waist, so I took my shorts off to keep them dry, yet left my shirt on... The implications of what I was doing did not occur to me until later. Drank around my campfire. Warmed my bum with my back to the flames. Burnt my finger on something. And my sidekick/enabler picked up his airline ticket to fly in from the nation's high five, Michigan.

Finished the giant twister mat with the help of Tom, my sister and my mom. Just payed output in the yard, and laid down and colored circles. It was nice. Mom fed us French toast and bacon after.
Also finished all my gifts!

Did the annual switch from coffee to tea today, so that coffee will feel stronger on the playa.

I mix my own 'half-caff' that tastes good enough to be the thing I drink all day long (I'm a coffee snob, we can compare machines and grinders and roast preferences, etc.). Every once in a while I will dump the burr grinder out and put in some strait up medium/dark roast combo (dark for flavor, medium for caffeine) and holy firecrackers if I even try to sit down my muscles twitch up and let me know that stopping moving is not gonna be happenin for a while.Savannah wrote:Did the annual switch from coffee to tea today, so that coffee will feel stronger on the playa.

While I have the needed stuff to buy bulk rebar and weld Ts on the top, I'm short on time and they are pretty cheap on ebay, so a heavy box of 50 rebar 18" stakes came in today.
deciding if I should bring my coffee roaster out there. It would be fun to smoke up the neighborhood and share fresh roasted beanss and bring my Tecknivorm drip pot for that perfect cup. Ill have to see how storage space plays out as we pack.
home roasting with my Gene Cafe was the best coffee move Ive ever made. you buy fair trade green beens for half of roasted, they dont go bad so you can buy a bunch at once, and I built a dedicated vent hood in the pantry so its easy as pie to roast up a batch about once a week.

As long as it's something you'll be okay with if it gets damaged or destroyed, you'll be okay. That's the measuring stick I use to determine whether I should bring something out or not.
Sounds like some great progress all round. Sorry to hear about the hiking cuts and scrapes, Bri, but at least you didn't do any falling off mountains or have run-ins with poisonous creatures.

Hopefully I will be able to find a theme camp for those missed activities once the burn begins. Reading the actions of others here does get me motivated. Re: One Item for BM a Day
Picked up some quality 12 inch Glow sticks, although I'm not a huge fan of disposable glow products.
Mainly as a backup since last year all of my electronic personal illumination devices failed during the week, although some started working again off the playa. It started with my coats EL wire failing on day one and progressed through electric glow sticks, led necklaces, led cyberlox, etc... Even my headlamp had some issues with the battery door cracking - but at least I was able to hold that together with gorilla tape.

Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

So the theme this year is like a giant camp out in the desert? With people bringing lots of shit from all over? uh.. -Marscrumbs
Re: One Item for BM a Day
I had applied for a renewal two months before leaving on this trip I'm still on now, and about a week before I was to leave, it came back because they didn't like my picture. It was smiling a bit. It also had an invisible shadow, which I still don't see. I ended up having to pick it up in Vancouver... They had to let me in to Canada, but if the passport hadn't been there for some reason, they wouldn't have let me back into the states, even with my green card and driver license.Schtev wrote:Applied for a passport renewal, which should take two weeks.
