I don't know what your problem is with me personally as I have never done anything to you, but the way you treated me on playa was uncalled for and now making these little quips needs to stop. I don't find cute or even snarky. The way you treat me and on the border line attack me is not appropriate, rude, bullyish and just childish. If you don't like me fine. You don't have to. But you don't need to be rude or making fun of people if you don't like them. There are plenty of people here I don't care for, but I'm not going to be rude to them. No need for it. So please just drop it already ok?

Fishy continued her tradition of making a thread with a funny title that reminds people of other threads, but totally different content (which doesn't make fun of TG, btw). Fishy makes silly threads with parody titles (but different content) all the time. I think others have as well. Like most of us, I didn't even think of whose thread the original was, or what the topic was--and I'm reading this stuff all the time. But now everyone is hyperfocused on it. Not the intent, folks.
We probably get back to the critical matter of newbies letting strangers wash their Bathing Suit Areas.
THAT was actually funny.

No I have just kept my mouth shut about it till now hoping she would just stop at some point. The qwipt at me was the last straw. Se was very rude and unkind to me on playa for no other reason then I was there at those moments and I have seen some quipts on here poking fun at me in comments. I've just had enough. I have done nothing to her what so ever. I was polite and kind to her on the playa but was greeted back with cold shoulder and rudeness. I don't think I ever met anyone on the playa that treated me that way, hell even when I met Simon it was not as bad as this. i wasnt exspecting that from her amd that sucked because growing up in the Midwest we are taught to respect our elders and be kind. i dont know for sure.. but i think these 'similar but different thread names' thing is a bit of a holdover from the old burning man tribe on the TRIBE.NET website ..where it was just 1 big forum without separate catagories... i highly doubt its any kind of attack or anything...

Stop what?
if you ARE butt-hurt, use PM's to sort it...
aaaand, back to the OP:
I'm thinking a great new intro for virgins would be to run them through the HCW;
with appropriate boundaries and safewords, of course.
Let's move it to Greeters!
but think of all that greywater.

Meat cake with teeth -
yeah, PM's rule for sorting stuff out. Meeting people IRL sometimes can shatter an image that has been built, or someone has had an off day and it goes afoul - nuff said.
Back to the OP - I had a picture of a "Junk washer" at BM a couple years ago - was basically a glory hole your supposed to put your man bits through and get them washed on the other side. Needless to say it had a pressure washer and a Bunch of jets hooked to it as well as a rotary brush on an electric motor. I am not sure if it worked, but did look like it could do some damage. HCW was fun to watch back in the day, but is not my thing, neither was the naked slip and slide on the 9oclock road 2012. It turns out all it is is water mixed in with sweat, pubes, and playa dust. Your mileage may vary though.

Re: Is Human Carcass Wash Brainwashing out Newbies?
If Fishy were genuinely trying to make fun of TG through this thread's title and OP, she did a pretty poor job of doing so. Normally when I try to make a "we're not laughing with you, we're laughing at you" parody of someone's post/thread, I'll try to use some twisted, sarcastic exaggeration of the original subject to amplify the other person's failures. That way the post's content is directly at the expense of the other person.
Some off-the-wall parody of it really doesn't do it. Then the joke is more about the post itself, not the person who wrote the post being parodied. It's like a parody by Weird Al Yankovic -- more a sign of affection.
Who knows though? Maybe Fishy is just more subtle than I am. Or maybe I'm just a dick and have different standards.

Nothing wrong with not going, as long as you actually know "why". And ewe, I think it's creepy is not the right answer. Why do you think it's creepy! What about it (or you) is actually causing you to feel the way you do about that experience? I don't care what the answer is, but you should. So much of the writings on the event involve the HCW, or Critical Tits or nudity and sexuality in general. And while it's a part of it, and I'd venture to say an important one, it's not as essential to the experience as I thought it would be. I didn't have to strip down to push my own boundaries, or participate. I don't feel like I missed something. That was surprising to me. Eplaya helps a ton for former virgins like me. If you go by the most published photos, you might think there's no place for an overweight 35 year old female who goes covered nearly head to toe most of the day because otherwise I would burn to a fucking crisp.
And to hear respected veterans say that they don't take part in some of these things eases my mind. It's not necessarily a hang up that I have to "get over." Just a personal preference that is acceptable.
I guess my point was the general one expressed so often on eplaya. Participation occurs in many forms. Burn the way you want to burn. Yada, yada, yada.

Re: Is Human Carcass Wash Brainwashing out Newbies?
just because lotsa people run around naked and do pervy shit doesnt mean that it has anything to do with burning man..
just like lots of stuff at the event.... things may happen there but they dont really define the event ...unless you think pounding stakes into the ground, or drinking booze at some bar is "the burning man experience"
it seems like the typical 'your mileage may vary' thing applies: everyone seems to think the thing they like to do defines the event
so-called 'pushing' of boundaries ? i dont see that having anything to do with burning man....... its a camping trip and an arts festival.. perhaps the opportunity to do new things is available, but it certainly isnt needed/required to enjoy oneself and have a great time, nor to be a full 'participant' (whatever that means)
and pushing of 'sexual' or nudity boundaries ? an essential part ? no.. i dont think so. ..it feels to me that some of that mindset comes from people looking for acceptance for their non-normative-by-american-cultural-standards behavior .....which is fine.. we all want acceptance and for more people to do stuff that we are passionate about..
i feel that there are some folks/groups that push non-participation in their 'boundary pushing' stuff as non-acceptance or someone being timid/wimpy/unsure of oneself. often the response by them feels like a "get in the waters, its fine!!" "its ok if you know WHY you dont want to" mindset/guilt-trip/pseudopsychobabble... and that to me isnt very cool!!
some people just dont want to climb on yer lame jungle gym
some people just dont want to get their ass zapped to get a drink from your bar
some people just dont want to be put on the spot and sing a dumb song to get a snocone
some people just dont want to get naked in front of strangers
some people just dont want to eat your nasty hummus
some people just dont want to do stuff they havnt done before
some people just dont like the shit that you like.. and won't ever give a shit.
some people just dont like being touched !
i think this type of thing is a struggle within the burning man that ive seen....... some kind of dust-up between those that apply what i feel is an implied forced acceptance of whatever behavior/activities/beliefs implying yer a prude/asshole/wimp for not taking part/accepting BECAUSE, ITS BURNING MAN, YO.......and those who just dont give a damn about some other persons hobbies/interests/camp/awesome hummus.
if some people get something out of all of the boundary pushing shit? hooray!! but that hella aint what i see as a core to the event..

and pushing of 'sexual' or nudity boundaries ? an essential part ? no.. i dont think so. ..it feels to me that some of that mindset comes from people looking for acceptance for their non-normative-by-american-cultural-standards behavior .....which is fine.. we all want acceptance and for more people to do stuff that we are passionate about..
i feel that there are some folks/groups that push non-participation in their 'boundary pushing' stuff as non-acceptance or someone being timid/wimpy/unsure of oneself. often the response by them feels like a "get in the waters, its fine!!" "its ok if you know WHY you dont want to" mindset/guilt-trip/pseudopsychobabble... and that to me isnt very cool!!
some people just dont want to climb on yer lame jungle gym
some people just dont want to get their ass zapped to get a drink from your bar
some people just dont want to be put on the spot and sing a dumb song to get a snocone
some people just dont want to get naked in front of strangers
some people just dont want to eat your nasty hummus
some people just dont want to do stuff they havnt done before
some people just dont like the shit that you like.. and won't ever give a shit.
some people just dont like being touched !
i think this type of thing is a struggle within the burning man that ive seen....... some kind of dust-up between those that apply what i feel is an implied forced acceptance of whatever behavior/activities/beliefs implying yer a prude/asshole/wimp for not taking part/accepting BECAUSE, ITS BURNING MAN, YO.......and those who just dont give a damn about some other persons hobbies/interests/camp/awesome hummus.
if some people get something out of all of the boundary pushing shit? hooray!! but that hella aint what i see as a core to the event..
