One Item for BMan 2013 a Day
Re: One Item for BM a Day
Finally pulled out my costumes from last year! Went through all that, and all the new costume stuff I've made/purchased over this year. Organized and packed it all up. So that part of my prep is ALL DONE! Yay!

In the tape department, We usually have a roll or two of good quality duct tape on hand for general purpose use, but for mission critical stuff it's gaffer tape all the way.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Got the utility trailer set out to load.. Finding a bunch of crap I don't need on the playa..There is going to be one hell-of-a yard sale in Sept.
Re: One Item for BM a Day
Weeee! I leave in about 25 days (possibly 26), and I am slowly but surely getting all packed up. Lists are seeing little check marks. I still have a TON to do, but I am in pure excited mode. Today I made a big purchase that is going to take a load off my mind in terms of prep. I bought a blackrock playa shade structure! I have been seeking and pricing parts to build something off the van, but for the price of just getting roof rack installed, I bought this standalone number that I can park the van under! No guy wires. No protruding rebar. Plus it's a heavy duty tarp instead of shade material so I get the bonus dry factor in case of rain! I can't wait to pick it up and meet the makers of the serpent cars. It wasn't cheap, but I am so tickled at all the plus factors, I just had to share.
My graphics for my gift necklaces have taken a backseat for the past few days while I finish up some web work, which is actually fine because I am still waiting for the micro glaze net order to arrive.
So far I have found one suitable tupperware to contain my mango margarita mix. The dry ice prices seem high here in Watsonville. $1.50 a pound?! Does that sound right?

Check for big ice cream distibutors that ice cream trucks get their stock from.
Mines "Blue Bunny" and the dry ice is 40 cents a pound!

Watch out for dry ice in the form of pellets. They are used in production of sparkling wine. I once telephoned a supplier for the price of dry ice, and showed up to load. It was pellets. Evaporated rather quickly. Be sure you are talking about blocks. And blocks are usually wrapped in wax paper or some such, which retards evaporation.

Yep. 5 pound bricks idividually wrapped in plastic.
Couldn't find bigger blocks at that price, but when they go in the cooler I unwrap them and stack them into one 70 pound block.($30)

Whoa! How much space does a 70 pound block take? Is it a whole huge cooler?FIGJAM wrote:Yep. 5 pound bricks idividually wrapped in plastic.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Oh... That is big. I think 20-25 pounds will do me. I am just freezing two big tupperwares and some ice cream sandwiches. It's mostly the mango mix I want to keep frozen, and even then only till Thursday or Friday.FIGJAM wrote:danibel wrote:Whoa! How much space does a 70 pound block take? I was camped next to the Serpent Twins last year. They also had a trilobite thing made from a wheelchair and house. Empire of Dirt, maybe...

Ordering the trailer hitch lights today, put some more money away for gas.
I broke my bike today. So looks like I will have to get this one fixed and from the sounds of it cost me about $200 and I bought the bike for $400. Fml. Pedaling to work , felt like it was getting stuck or the chain was going to pop off, 2 second later I can no longer pedal. Tom thinks it might be the bearings and if so... Good bye $200. Fuckkkkkk.

Got my early arrival pass from Greeters. It says on it that I can only camp from G back.
If I want to be near Kidcamp and Hushville I will have to move there on Monday morning. (By then I won't care).

2 x N95 respirator masks with exhalation valves. I'll save them for if the shit really hits the fan, and stick with a shemagh most other times.

Picked up some 'jesus nails' (aka spikes) and washers to stake my monkey hut floor tarp down. Lamenting that I threw away my FIGJAM bucket cooler hole cut-outs necessitating the washer purchase.

Awesome! I was gonna chime in and say it COULDN'T be $200 to fix your bike.tattoogoddess wrote:Yay my friend offer to fix my bike. Looks like the part will be $40!
There's enough people here that can assemble it with their eyes closed or build one from scratch that if you described the issue and/or posted photos, I'm sure you could be talked through screwing the thing together.

Took it into the bike shop, fixing it for $20. The chain I guess was rusted a bit to much and stuck. They are fixing it and replacking the bearings. Yay!
Made pre addressed postcards today. Last year I sent one to my mom. She never got it. I put completely wrong address on it... I even used to live there. What the fuck! I was even sober to. So learned that lesson.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
My covert patrolling of bathrooms paid dividends today I scored not one but two 1/3 rolls that will fit nicely in my Camelbak without seeming like some latter day Quasimodo.
Most of the items left on my initial "to buy" list can be had at HD, I plan a late evening raid.
It sunk in today that I will be hitting the road in 19 days, it's just about time to get my butt in gear (pun intended).
