Hello from Berlin
Hello from Berlin
Glad to got on board. So hey there people!
My name is Robert, I'm in my mid-twenties and an open minded person living in Berlin,
People with personality are so inspiring to me and I love to see new places and everything that keeps up a fresh airflow to my synapses.
Goddamn, I love awesome new things!
I'm married with photography, which I kept up since I'm 8 yrs old and going with that,
also artsy-fartsy stuff and everything with a lot of emotion and expression.
I always wanted to visit the Burning man, so it's time to kick myself into the ass and get things rolling!

Re: Hello from Berlin
I hate to be the one who has to do this, but the proper idiom is "I'm married too photography since I was eight..." Although, I didn't know that Germany still had childgrooms.
(I have a certain reputation on this board to live up to, however...)

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

Ich wohnte im Deutschland fur vier Jahren, aber my german is terrible jetzt. I'm trying to practise more since I'm planning a big trip back next summer.
Re: Hello from Berlin
The Cryptofishist might be having fun with you, Robert. It would have been "married to photography" not "married too photography".TheRobert wrote:Well, I have to be honest, burning man is my escape ticket from slavery!

Anyway--"I'm married with photography" is cute. Your English is better than my German. ("Ein bier, bitte" is all I can say!)
Here's a page about photography at Burning Man in case you haven't seen it yet.

@BurnerBunny: So is my English, haha. What were you up to over here, 4 years seems as a decent time.
@Savannah: Thank you! Well with that phrase you will get very far over here, I promise!
Thanks for the link, very helpful information in there. I never use a telephoto lens anyway and keep it with Cartier-Bresson's words:"Get close!", as I also like to socialize with
the people I photograph.

Re: Hello from Berlin
I said that once in Germany...holding up my forefinger. I got TWO biers! I found out why from my German hosts later. Do you know why?Savannah wrote:TheRobert wrote: ("Ein bier, bitte" is all I can say!)

Re: Hello from Berlin
I was having fun. And it should have been "married to..." I'm going senile and I don't like it. Those silly errors are creeping in...Savannah wrote:The Cryptofishist might be having fun with you, Robert. It would have been "married to photography" not "married too photography".![]()

As more my german--I can say that burnerbunny could have used "schlecht" instead of terrible.
Editor without portfolio is such a bitter little thing to be.
Anyway, I was only playing with you, because otherwise I would have asked you about the klezmer band that I fell in love with this year... Or, if not them, then the "walking" guy for the street lights.
I have such odd things run through my head when you say Berlin. My mother is all about Nefertiti...

Re: Hello from Berlin
father was in the army. We were stationed at a tiny little town called Illesheim, it's in Bayern not too far from Ansbach. Love germany, I'm using duolingo to brush up on my german, hoping to spend a good part of next summer exploring my old stomping ground. And visiting berlin, never been but I hear it's the place to be these days.
Hoping to drag my partner along, but he's not a huge fan. He loved Switzerland though, i keep telling him the cultures are similar.

Come, now TheRobert...you're German! If you are in a gasthaus, and you want to order another bier and the waiter is across the room and it's noisy, how would you signal to him with your hand that you want just one bier?TheRobert wrote:No, but you have to tell me

My father was born in Frankfurt (am Mein) and my sister in Hamburg. I never had a chance to live there...

Re: Hello from Berlin
I loved riding my bike to bad windsheim. There was a really nice outdoor schwimmbad my sister and I used to go to all the time in the summer. I remember saving up my DMark to buy ice creams and candy (I was 10-13 when I lived there iirc)

@BurnerBunny:
Yep Berlin is definitely worth a visit, as the cutlture is also completely different, a bit like burning man.
@Dragonpilot:
Ah come on, that was an easy one!
