Try searching for the Sands Reno, then check the site's contact page for a direct (non-toll-free) number.

Ive stayed at several Motel 6's in the Reno area which were fine although they lacked a free breakfast, shampoo, free wifi and hot tub. How does the Sands compare? Is it clean, with comfy beds and similar to Super 8, Econolodge, Best Western and other mid level motels? Does it have non smoking rooms? Thanks

The Sands beats any if the chains you mentioned. But bring conditioner! They only have shampoo.

I've just added a coupl'a nights' reservation for myself, since my sister, Delle and her hubby Kenny will be there too... for the Friday night before, and both Tuesday and Wednesday nights after. They'll be staying there Thursday (arriving very late) and Saturday night, too. They fly out of Reno on Thursday, and I'll head south in my little car.

Just booked on the website and worked like a charm. Thank you so much! For some reason the site is down now, but it should go back up soon. Just entered the code in the "Group Code" section.

Re: Barbie Death Village Reno Hotel Deal 2013
Hi all-
I called to reserve at this rate over the phone. The Reservation Specialist said if there's some kind of paperwork "proving" the original $57 rate vs the new $80 rate we should print it out and bring it with us to check in. That should be all they need to honor the original price. So, my question is, does anyone have anything besides this thread to use as said proof? I have 4 rooms reserved for most of my camp to make an overnight pit stop after the temple burn, before returning to SF.
FYI, after tax it's $92.80 per room.
Thanks!

What day did you book for? If you read the original post in this thread you will note that the rates changed under new management, and one of them (Sunday) is indeed $80. The prices in the first post reflect the latest information we were given, however it's up to Sands management to go by their offer. Make sure you're using the "burning13" code.creativecstasy wrote:Hi all-

Ok, I left out some details.
A while ago, I booked a single room for Sunday night at the original rate of $57. Then, more camp mates decided they wanted in on this deal. As I was already in the database for the Sands, I offered to be responsible for booking rooms for the rest of the camp for Sunday night. The price has since gone up, as we all know. I booked over the phone, and asked if they would honor my original booking rate for the additional rooms I was adding to the reservation. At that point I was told it would be possible with paperwork that "proved" the original rate offer when I arrive.
Is that more clear?
Re: Barbie Death Village Reno Hotel Deal 2013
Did you not receive an email confirming your original reservation? I booked by phone and received emails. (not for the sunday though, unfortunately for this purpose)

Online from the parking lot, got a lower rate...Canoe wrote:... Post-burn I was walk-in and got dinged for $99.![]()
Those in line around me had reservations from $35 to $55, with one $65 a night.![]()
One guy made his reservation just before coming inside, on his smart phone in the parking lot. He was the $65.

The best way to say "Thank you!" is to bring by a couple of bottles of absinthe to the Meet & Greet.

And I'm sure camp boss "dr pyro" would stay in that hole-in-the-wall known as "The Sands Regency" LOL The Sands is at least one star below the "circus" (Circus Circus).Dr. Pyro wrote:Your friends and collegues at Barbie Death Village have once again arranged, not only for ourselves but for our fellow ePlayans, another terrific hotel deal in Reno for those coming to or from the playa needing a place to stay for the night. The Sands Regency has taken down an entire floor of rooms just for burners! Here are the dates and rates:
Monday August 19 to Thursday August 22: $30
Friday August 23 and Saturday August 24: $60
Sunday August 25 to Thursday August 29: $30
Friday August 30 and Saturday August 31: $60
Sunday September 1: $80
Monday September 2 to Thursday September 5: $27
These figure do not include any applicable taxes. For those of you flying or driving a long distance into Reno looking for a good place to stay, this is a very good deal. Just ask your fellow burners who have taken advantange of it for the past two years. They have free shuttles to and from the airport, a free Jacuzzi, sauna, steambath, large swimming pool, and ice machines on every floor. The rooms are mostly double queens (there are a few kings available) and hold up to four people, 12 if you're sponsoring the orgy.
You will need to call: (866) FUNSTAY [(866) 386-7829] and ask for BURNING13.
Never let it be said that the best damn theme camp on the playa doesn't give back to the community.

So how soon do you plan on franchising the Barbie Death Camp and all it's off-shoots?

the sands kicks ass whether or not it is some kind of blatant advert or not the staff goes out of their way to make us happy and I will be going back whether there is a group rate or not..... the shower curtains may suck but its a good place

plus... they got real cheap bar drinks... money saved on that alone can pay for the stay compared to nearby places... and Mel's is awesome
