We are S and C. Together we are SandC. Sadly we will not be together at BM since C does not like camping. Or sand. Which is weird because it's kind of our username. She also hates flying and since that's how I'm getting there she just really won't be there. I've watched you burners for years and wanted to get in on the fun but have never had a chance. I now have a chance! This will be my first year there. I hope I don't die or anything. As a pilot flying in I hope to gift some rides. As a naturist I hope to gift some naked rides (bring a towel). As a short, fat human who loves his fellow human I will most likely keep my clothes on. The naturist resorts are used to such things but not sure y'all are ready for me in all my anti-glory.

Anyway, that's me.

No sand, fine dust.
Be prepared for high risk, high desert landings.
Be prepared for your plane to be exposed to fine dust.

Go nude if you want to.
It's not cojello.
Had a guy drive through the gate nude.

Hey everyone! I'm Trouble and this will be my second burn. I just posted on the shared resources page looking for a ride for me and my boyfriend (we're having a hard time securing one). But all my posts won't be asks for help, so keep a look out for me and feel free to say hi on here or on in the dust (I can usually be found in a wig and fabulous gown someplace in the gayborhood). xx

Wow, this is happening!!
Got my tickets at OMG last Wednesday. I've heard about BM few times before but I never understood what it is. Until last Feb, I met amazing Aussi that told me BM is the place for me.
She showed me some videos and describe it the best she can - but I still don't know what to expect. But I'm taking this as an adventure and I got very good feeling inside...
I got no plan on how to get there yet (from San Diego) and no idea where to camp.
I'm thinking about flying direct (1 and a half hours) and taking the "express bus" service from Reno.

Thanks figjam (and gyre!) Reading that thread did my old fat heart good. I'm used to not being judged at the nude resorts but whenever I see images of BM it's always the naked, fit 20-somethings. Damn media. I feel like I'm coming home. The flying fat man has found his people!

Welcome.

When I first got on eplaya, several eplayas ago, the argument was about whether sex should remain public or restricted to certain areas.

Hi.

My name is Kylie-Ayn and this will be my first burn. I am 23 years old. I planned on going in 2010, but decided to put it on hold and move to San Francisco, which was completely the right decision at the time. I've been saving up ever since. After non-stop planning, yurt building, and prep work- I am really looking forward to surviving and thriving on the playa. Experiencing the community, the love, and laughter. One of my personal biggest loves in life is wine and I plan to share that with anyone that happens to walk by my campsite when I hold a mini-tasting event.

Welcome Superaims and Kyliediscope, I hope you both have an exceptional first burn.

Super, When you get to Greeters ring the bell, yell, lie on the ground and make dust angels, hug the greeters. Unless you arrive at a very busy time or in a 'white-out' storm. (If that 's the case, ask if you can jump out and ring the bell and get a hug.) Then...and this is IMPORTANT!! Drive no faster than 5MPH till you get to camp. That last mile is the MOST LIKELY place for you to get a ticket. Sad but true.

Kylie, Welcome, I hope to greet in Many, Many virgins this year. Love your wine tasting idea. Keep it informal and go with the flow.

Read up on the food permitting discussions. You don't want to give anyone food poisoning, and you don't want to get a ticket. I know something of the disappointment you may be feeling after reading that. I have three bottles of vodka infusion... Now, it's going to be an in camp thing. Of course, you didn't make the wine at home. (Well, maybe you did, but I'm assuming even in our diy culture, that's not a common thing on playa... And heck, I've even has some...) Better safe than sorry.

Thank you, that is really helpful. I've scanned some threads and have only really seen discussion about food service. Is there any particular reading you can point me to about serving beverages to people. I have a food and drink handlers certification. Is that enough? I do not make my own wine, yet. But, when I do I will surely bring some to the playa for gifts. My plan is to bring 3 bottles of 4-6 different wines/varietals and pour 2 oz taste portions and talk about why they taste like they do/answer questions and then any leftovers people can have a glass of their favorite.

Thank you again. Will read through some more. I was told to always carry my own cup around with me, so I assumed that was something that everyone would be doing the same. If I am financially able I could buy a limited amount of reusable plastic wine glasses that people can keep afterwards.

You dear, sweet thing. We need more like you. There are a lot of people who are never told anything, and don't do any research, and expect to have their hands held the whole way through. You can insist you are only giving to those who bring there own cups, and you're probably okay. Double check the link in Trilobyte's post at the top of that thread to be sure.

That is very encouraging to hear! I am getting so nervous about being there and prepared.

I will read more in depth tonight, but based on the first few pages serving alcohol is okay, but serving anything non-booze requires a permit. Sorry everyone, but you are required to drink only my alcohol!

It actually has to do with the fact that the alcohol was bottled in a commercial kitchen, or equivalent. Giving away otter pops or twofer packages of saltines is also okay in the eyes of the health department.

Otherwise known to you oldtimers as Trishntek or Tnt. Be it known that I now enter the dusty gates as the humble facilitator of Retrofrolic! The Place of Pink, Pain and Pleasure! And invite one and all to come by and loosen your inhibitions for awhile! I look forward to seeing all of you and plan to attend the M&G with Pink and my best friend, DaddyRabbit! Absinthe jello shots anyone?

Don't you love it that his name fits him so well now, Ratty?!

Welcome to ePlaya, Jae Wonka, Chrubbie, & Asaf! Welcome Superaims! Great smile. :D Welcome Kyliediscope! Unless you're giving away sangria that you mix up yourself, you should be okay to serve wine! Check ID if you're unsure. (Most Burners who look young know that they should either carry ID or expect to be refused.)

Hello! I'm Ulisse, from Alaska and things have finally come together for me to explore the Playa. I've been lurking for the past year and tthanks to all the great regulars on here I think I have answered all the questions I know to ask. All that's left is the unknown. I'll be at the Sands over the weekend on on the bus Monday. Hope to meet some of you.

Welcome Ulisse. Start practicing this now. When you get to the Sands you'll be ready.

Throw both arms forward, (for the coming hug), smile big and say,"I'm a virgin can I have a hug". Now try to do this only with people going to the desert. Otherwise you may may arrested.

I got your welcome right here.
