I went out to check trailer lights and one side wasn't working.

So here's a tip.

Check and clean the connections on the plugs BEFORE dismantling the lights!

The plug at the bumper.

The addaptor, if you have one.

And the plug from the trailer.

A small wire brush for the exposed metal, and I used a small round file for the insides.

You can shape a piece of sandpaper around a nail if you don't have a small round file.

I cleaned those up and now I'm lit. 8)

TT, you really want to have a gap betwwen tent and tarp. You need the air flow between the two, otherwise it defeat the purpose. I added 5' to ribs inorder to fit my tent. I used same tarp only added shade clothe 3 feet on the bottom of both sides. worked well...

Still looking for a ride from Reno into BRC on Friday, the 22nd!

That's a lot of stuff, RIv, if you're not prepared with all that 'yer doin' it wrong.

I started preliminary packing. I may pare down my four bins to three as I don't have a hell of a lot on my list and it doesn't look like they'll fill up with what I have. I say preliminary because right now I'm just grouping stuff in respective bins and keeping my spreadsheet updated. I can't have my stakes and bungees on the bottom of the bin where they currently reside when it comes time to set up camp.

I'm calling it a major breakthrough since I feel like shit but felt a little better after a nap to actually start something I've been putting off for too long now. After some noodle soup I'm ready to crash again.

I had some problems with aftertaste in the aluminum "bottles" I had last year. What are you guys using for water vessels in camp?

Platypus everything, and nothing else.

I do use a plain ol' plastic bottle in camp, for mixing the morning Vitalyte (I've only ever used lemon). This year I think I'll have a Blender Ball, and bring some green vitality health powder, plus some super anti-oxidant berry jazz. Morning cocktail of vitamins and such.

But yeah, I have two 1L Platy...pi? And I LOVE them. I carry one on each leg (I hate wearing backpacks, so I wear them on my belt). I also hate sucking and biting on the Camelbak nozzles, another reason I like the screw caps.

Finished the stallions coat. Whip stitching el-wire always takes longer than I anticipated. However for everything I scratch off our list he adds three.

Try this: Fill them with clean water, add a pinch of baking soda, and add a half cup of cheap vodka. Top up completely, cap, and let it sit for a week. Drain, dont rinse, and oven dry at low heat.

Depending on the alloy, this will cause an oxide coating to form inside. Its protective, insoluble, and tasteless. If it still tastes funky, then there isnt much you can do cheaply. But this trick works more often than not.

Good.
Otherwise:
  • as the winds blows the monkey hut around, it will wear a hole in the materials of the tarp and/or tent,
  • you will not have an air gap between tarp & tent to keep the heat hitting the tarp away from the tent, and
  • wind can get caught without a way out around the tent, leading to large forces
(I've seen some recommendations to have a six inch gap between the playa and the bottom of the tarp to let the wind blow through. I don't know which is best: gap or no gap at bottom.).

Finished my online shopping:
- Groundhog stakes (thanks, Lemur, for the suggestion!)
- Spare camera batteries
- Parcord
- Tarp clips

Since I'll be taking photos this year and hoping to share them, I first thought about printing business cards with the URL for the photo website but the papery MOOP potential was too great. So - nerd alert! - tonight I grabbed a convenient tinyurl and got it to redirect to where the photos will be. Easy to remember and next to no chance of a misspelling!

By adding some 1 x 2 stripes and plastic to the dashboard of the trailer.. It gives me a shower floor and evap. pond.. It can hold up to a gallon.. With a towel drip in the water and hung over it to dry.. Should be just right for one persons shower.
