renting/buying bike on the playa

Post by tauciukas » Mon Aug 12, 2013 9:03 am

hello, not sure where to post this, but for people flying into reno airport,

what is the best bet for obtaining a bike for the playa ? is there a camp you can rent a bike ? or does someone take extra bikes ? would love to connect with them

Cheers,

Just the fact that you asked a question like that indicates you have not read the Survival Guide, something NO ONE should neglect to do!

No. You cannot buy or rent ANYTHING on the playa, with the exception of coffee and ice, and sometimes septic pumping from the trucks that service the porta potties.

There are several folks that rent bikes but all of those transactions happen outside of BM proper. No commerce.

There are also "Yellow Bikes" which are community bikes that you are free to use if you spot one. That are single use and cannot be claimed for the duration if the event. They are painted lime-green.

This late in the game I'd guess that most rentals are all spoken for.

Nor bothered to search for the many threads on this topic.

Read the Survival Guide, unless you want to be denied entry at the Gate, end up at Medical, facing an expensive bill to get evacuated to Reno, ejected from the site, fined, or otherwise have an unpleasant Burn.
