Securing Signs, signposts, fenceposts at your camp?

Post by magdalen23 » Wed Aug 14, 2013 12:43 pm

Howdy. I've got some signs (about 12" x 24") I'd like to post on the Playa at a normal-ish sign height. Our other signs are A-frames close to the ground or similar.

I have very limited space and some health difficulties that make it better to use lightweight materials. Any ideas for doing a real post with a sign that will actually stand up? Just find a metal fencepost, get someone to pound it in for me, secure with a whole bunch of wire and rebar at the bottom? It sounds dicey to me... any help appreciated.

Hoping not to secure these close to the ground, want them standing like 4 feet high.

Thanks for any advice you might have!

Two fence posts might work better. that would mean that your helper would do twice as much work.

Now, as someone with disability issues myself, I hate asking for help. But most people are very willing to give it to me. Depending on the specifics of your issue, that may be less true, but I hope with camp mates there would already be a general feeling of good will among you . Anyway, even though I hate asking for help, to me--with my particular set of abilities (and even my pride)--this is a no-brainer ask someone task.

The questions I have, therefor, relate much more to getting hold of the fence posts and getting them to the event...

the spires that line the promenades and the esplanade.. and go into the keyholes.. are supported by rebar around the corners and nothing else.

no digging needed.. or post pounding needed
