Re: What music do you expect this year?
Yes, you will hear music. There will be lots of it, and it will be everything you can think of and some you've never heard before.
Forget the pop & dance boxes, there is tons of music to find, once you drag yourself away from the big sound camps at 2 & 10. On those streets you'll hear dance stuff, on the backstreet you can find everything from heavy metal & live Irish music, to country and classical, and everything in between. I think I'll hear something I've never heard before, and that's good enough for me.

You could also try leaving your expectations at home. Some of the years I've enjoyed the music the most are the ones where I came in without any expectations, or lists of whose sets I wanted to catch at camp X on night Y.

Whatever music there is, it'll sound like an intergalactic war in the middle of the playa.

I'm excited to see that there will be many more (so it seems) live music venues. Lots of talk about acoustic pianos, backlines, open jams ...

I hear Tchaikovsky is trending heavily. Considering adding his Swan Lake to your play list, yo.

I'll be blasting Scottish murder ballads as loud as I can, at all hours.

You're not going to get a straighter answer on here than the one Eric gave you, nor should you. Don't bother trying to get one.

I'm actually kind of glad it's spelled that way, so that I can pronounce Basshunter like the fish, rather than the sound.lemur wrote:

Re: What music do you expect this year?
I remember one year I was cruising the sound camps looking for good music to listen to. I happened to stop by opulent temple got bored listening to armin van buuren (I didn't know it was him till later) then wandered into some awesome smaller camp playing the most amazing stuff I've ever heard.
I think every big name act I've made a point of trying to see has been a dissapointment.

This year we will be rocking, among others, the music of a great American and musical genius: John Phillip Sousa
Seriously. And I have found an excellent recording of JPS works by the Dallas Wind Symphony.
The fun part is: you will not believe *what* we will be using to play said musical selections.
Swing by Sideshow Camp @ Ill Ville, 4 & Esplanade to find out. Or perhaps a chance encounter deep playa???

The 7:30 area is turning out to be live music row. I see a lot of camps with stages on the 7:30 email forum.
