I'd highly recommend deciding a rough location to meet up at before anyone hits the playa. The outer rings are usually really easy to find a good spot.

I believe P. I. is open 9am-6pm. You might also want to post a homemade sign on an agreed-upon intersection everyone knows about, even if it's not the one closest to camp. Bring a huge marking pen, cardboard, fixative . . . )

It does not sound like they are a placed camp. That will eliminate any streets before F (A-E) until the gate is open for the burn. If you have an EA (early entry) pass, you should know that.

All I knew was that after Playa Info closes, michievious imps often take over, and the most unholy kinds of misdirection tend to take place. So I'm pleased to hear that if a midnight arrival navigates successfully past these trickster gods, they have a chance in hell.

This sounds like a great idea and a good way to have virgins participate without the fear of a large camp. I would be happy to help you fine fellows. I'm coming into Reno on the 24th and have a box truck reserved for my section 8 RV accommodations. I have plenty of space for a group shade structure and can rig a monkey hut easily. Also that whole messy part of getting bikes to the playa without a bike rack on your rental car -_- So drop me a PM. I tried to do something similar but I guess I tried to early and no one was ready to make any real plans.

So glad I found this thread! My lady and I will be driving from NYC and having a hard time deciding to join a camp or not. I love the organic nature that this camp has sprung up under.

We plan to roll into Reno by the 25th, would definitely be willing to meet up if anyone is around.


We are both virgins and in reading the thread am still a bit unclear on how/where we all meetup? Any info appreciated, really look forward to meeting you all!

Unfortunately, where the meet up will be is going to be unclear. No space has been reserved, and so the first people there are going to find space where they can meet up. Then they will post that information by street and time. The best possible posting of that information would be at whatever intersection(s) they agreed to start with and at the computers that are in center camp/playa info. It will be your first direct experience of the uncertainty of the burn. Learn to relax with it...

There may not be a signpost at 9:15 and E. (If there is, there's no intersection.) Search for "2013 City Plan" on the main site. There is no intersection at 9:15 and E. 9:15 and G, on the other hand, does have an intersection and therefore a signpost, hopefully with a sign (at least in the first few days!) G Street is a better choice anyway, because you're not going to get E Street anyway without Placement.

I would say anyone joining this camp should be prepared for at least one night of solo camping, just in case.

Nice idea. note: Playa Info is next door and that would be a good opportunity to register an address.

If you meet somewhere big and crowded like Center Camp, specify (for example) the seating closest to the North Side, or some other thing, and "look for the guy in the white top hat." Or whathaveyou. (I would not easily be able to find someone hanging out there.)

This has gotten a tremendous response!

So I'm one of the people who camped here last year. We have decided the camp name. This is Camp Hotel Rug. We are going to have the post at the road sign @ 7:00 & C, as well as a registration with Playa info with our final address. Later tonight when I get off work. I'm going to make an inventory of what we currently have, and post it here as a google doc link. In there I'll also add a section for people to confirm.

This is turning out even better than last year. Let's make it a wonderful burn!

you are correct sir, I do not have early access and for the most part planned and entering the playa as the great unknown. I would not only like to help but will probably camp with you fine fellowship of lost souls. I will be in Reno and have space for some people as well if you missed the burner express.
