Re: ePlaya Meet and Greet 2013 - What are you doing?
We could probably fit you two in. If not, then certainly her. (Just kidding) We'll likely have over 200 people throughout the course of the evening coming by so more ePlayans the merrier! Bring food. I have found those round platters of shrimp that can be bought frozen at Costco are very popular.
Re: ePlaya Meet and Greet 2013 - What are you doing?
As a man of the Tribe, I don't mess with shrimps frozen or otherwise. Can I bring some sumptuous alcohol? Or is that already spoken for?

Re: ePlaya Meet and Greet 2013 - What are you doing?
I thought I saw a potluck sign-up document somewhere. Can someone point me to it please?

Well come on Doc, I thought you were gonna make the comment about the Internet meetings - you didn't so I had to, and now I'm the one who seems unsavory!
Well played, sir.

Re: ePlaya Meet and Greet 2013 - What are you doing?
I am looking forward to meet and greet, and can't believe I will see many of you soon.
Can anyone think of what is still needed for Meet and Greet.
I can bring non alcoholic drinks, or wine, appetizers, hard booze for mixing...
Any ideas? There are so many pages of entries, I am hoping someone who has followed this thread can help.

If you actually cook out there (I don't!) you probably can't go wrong with something substantial or savory. I don't think everyone has put down what they're bringing, but people will default to alcohol if they run out of time, and from the looks of the spreadsheet there could be more solid food.
Don't let me tell you what to bring, but that's just an idea.

Thanks Savannah, I will think of something more hearty.Savannah wrote:If you actually cook out there, you can't go wrong with something substantial or savory. Good idea, will also help absorb the drink...the party will last longer!

Re: ePlaya Meet and Greet 2013 - What are you doing?
I keep hearing that the serious shortages are usually soft drinks and other mixers. For example, the GP&E Bar just sent out a plea for members to bring mixers. They listed Club Soda, Tonic Water, fruit juices, Cola and 7up.
Re: ePlaya Meet and Greet 2013 - What are you doing?
Thank you, Elliot. I really don't want to scare anyone who can't or doesn't cook. It's not like we won't know what to do with an excess of cocktails.
Heck, I think I will bring a mixer, too.

Me, I'll probably bring some white wine -- same plonk I serve at my own camp.

Re: ePlaya Meet and Greet 2013 - What are you doing?
I have posted this before, but assuming you have refrigeration (and if you don't stop reading now) like in an RV, I have found those circular trays of shrimp with sauce that can be found at Costco are a big hit. Yeah, yeah, they're not kosher, but we don't exactly bring two sets of dishes out to the playa (if you're not Jewish that last reference may well be lost on you). I suspect some of these people would eat Milk Bonz if you poured bacon grease on them. And they wouldn't be kosher either. At least, I don't think they would be.

I put my name and stuff back on the spreadsheet. IDK why it wasn't still on there.

Re: ePlaya Meet and Greet 2013 - What are you doing?
Based on the list I think I may bring some juices and maybe some gingerale. Love me some whiskey gingers! As it looks like a lot of people will be bringing wine already and it appears that as was being discussed above there is a shortage of mixers.
Re: ePlaya Meet and Greet 2013 - What are you doing?
Everyone that drives to the burn from home brings way too much of everything*. By Wednesday you'll be saying, "I'll bring that and that and that."
*Except of course that thing you forgot and will spend all week trying to find.

Well, I just bought 14 bottles of wine, which I knew was totally excessive, but hey- it's only your first burn once!

So... once again. At the last minute, my life implodes (and my truck, but mostly my life). Seriously. Anyway. yet another year where I won't be attending. I think next year I will wait till the day I depart to post in this thread. Sorry all.

Life often gets in the way of our plans, certainly lots of my plans anyway.

There's a water shortage out there.
And no asses' milk either.

BOUNCE!
...PICKLED STUFF!
I signed up as moop mistress and velvet rope line-wrangler. Contemplating actually bringing the uniform I have to wear, when I work security for gigs (cuz it's a thing I do).
Although, a fake BDC Ranger outfit would also be pretty funny. At least to me. I could wear my moustache. Def won't be signing up for a Ranger shift that night, this year! Screw that, I need a chaitini.
