Went to load my camelback for use as a carry on and realised it still had several ounces of playa dust in it. Did a thorough washing to prevent the "unknown powder" from causing a ruckus.

Knocked out some last minute sewing.

Starting to pack.

I opened the sluices on the savings for Burning Man, the money I did save specifically for Burning Man. Shopped Trader Joe's, Smart and Final (that was my first stop, and apparently it wasn't the latter) I got a new battery, and a 15 watt solar panel I've been watching. Put my smaller water containers in my sister's deep freeze for ice water through the week. If I pull all the canned goods I've been buying throughout the year, I should have enough for two or three Burning Mans, but I live in earthquake country, and they say it's a good idea to have some around. TJ's has a liquid coffee concentrate that cost less than the ground coffee I use to make a concentrate. I figure I've saved a step in my prep, and it's a messy slow step, draining the coffee after it soaks for 12 hours. I count that as a bonus. I was ready to start my chili, and realized I forgot to buy an onion. don't think so. I'll head back out after I mix and bag the trail mix ingredients.

Have you tried that coffee concentrate yet? I saw it on their site and was considering getting some myself. Seems like a great option.... if it's good!

I found it a little bitter. I put in more splenda than I usually do. In fact, as I took it to work and couldn't find my splenda stash, I ended up looking in the lunchroom and coffee stations until I found some. Not quite absurd, but a skilled writer could push it over the top...

That would have to be a scene with an overly regal boss that must be pleased needed splenda in the coffee, and they are just entering the building, now walking down the hall, etc...

I use the concentrate for iced coffee, so I usually sweeten it and add milk. I use ground beans for hot coffee. I think the caffeine delivery items will be well covered, so I'm willing to risk the TJ version. I think I'll keep the seal on. I did find Pete's coffee on sale, and bought a good sampling of their darker roasts.

Bitter, you say.

Not a fan of bitter, much -- especially as I don't sweeten, so it would have to stay that way.

Thanks for the report, you two!!!

I drank a water bottle of mimosa after work and went thriftin'. Didn't find a damn thing. I just need a plain pair of black shoes with no heel, and a black cotton dress or two. Fifth? Sixth? Unsuccessful attempt. Getting fairly frustrated with trying to come up with stuff to wear. Not even fun stuff. Just regular stuff. Fun stuff ain't even on the radar this year.

Now I am going to actually start packing. And drink some more champagne.

cfm. Can I help? What gender? What STYLE? What size? I'll be there on Sat the 24th and we could probably find a place for me to drop a little something off for you.

I have a vagina. I have style. I wear 12-18ish (smaller on top, bigger on bottom).

I.........................................................................................let's see, words that people might throw at random things I (CFM/doom/Fucking Awesome/glory hole/sclibertine) wear:

WTF
vintage
tailored
creepy
fucking weird
what is wrong with you
that's gorgeous

Helpful? At my regionals I tend to do things like hoop skirts and corsets and Hitler moustaches and pregnant Confederate Flag swimsuits. Ain't nobody got time for that at Burning Man!

I have a pair of these I'm trying to outfit-out.

Things I would probably not wear, unless as a joke:

furry leg warmers
furry anything
merkins
bunny ears
birthday suit
body paint
glitter
feathers

Even if you don't have anything, the fact you even thought about it is AWESOME, and I thank you!

And does anyone wear merkins seriously? I mean not in Amanda Palmer videos, but in "real" "life"?

those make excellent little pillows, for travel or for people with sore necks. Best in t-shirt jersey, since it stretches some, and t-shirts are just the right size (minus the arms/neck of the shirt) and best left loosely packed. I have 2 herniated discs in my neck, (since 1991) and have been using a similar pillow for the last almost three years, with fantastic relief for my neck.

Just a thought... :D

I understand I understand... it's just too much, for me, all the stuff I've collected. I get it for Burning Man, and then it's too much to get done for THIS Burning Man. Do I make the connection that means it's really not needed? No, not really. I can make some neat stuff out of it. I cannot make the stuff I want to make, but need to plan on making MORE> OCTOBER THIS YEAR. Fall is going to be the time to make stuff.

CFM, Well I'm done and you can't tell from these photos but.........It came out nice... It's furry and funny and the ends are actually puppets. So you can keep your hands warm or use them as pockets. Just tell me where to deliver it and I'll bring it. (Hey it was fun to make too).

Ratty: I'm a lonesome orphan taken in by Tamara and Dye with Dignity, 4&G.

I tried to pack tonight, and make things. I really have no idea what to pack to wear, stupidest Burning Man dilemma ever. I watched Breakfast Club instead. Well, I mean, I meant to do all the things, but got sucked right into that film like I'd never seen it before.

I don't know why I am always surprised by how long the special tasks take . . .

Magical thinking, relentless optimism, sun spots, the price of tea in China . . . the mild concussion I sustained when I was seven?

Nevertheless, today was quite productive--for me--even if everything took longer than I wanted it to.

I got everything packed and ready to go. Now I'm climbing the walls thinking of other things that need to be done. This is worse than having too much to do. I keep second guessing myself.

I am now packed and ready except for last-minute food and alcohol items (drank some of my packed wine last night with friends). Now what to do until I leave for BRC early on Saturday morning? This might almost be worse than my usual scrambling around at the last minute. I guess I'll just sit around and hydrate . . .
