FOP - feet on playa.. how long for you? 2013!

How many days ?

its getting that time where many of the smaller art projects and the theme camps/volunteer people are starting to gear up to go out... so whats your FOP count, and if youre going in before the gates open to the masses (or not) what are you going to setup/build/do ?


for me ... FOP 4 days!!

will be on playa friday hopefully before/around noon to help put the finishing touches on the setup of lamplighter village..

Well piss! I can't leave until Sunday but am staging for several far and away burners with ea. So still having fun and good times here in Renotown.

The jonesing here is something fierce with seeing so many burners/burner mobiles rolling through...

I'm leaving Sacramento Sunday afternoon so I don't expect to have FOP till Monday sometime and leaving the following Tuesday so that should give me 8 days FOP!

Slept on the playa the other night. I'll be out there for a good bit, Early in (thursday) and cleanup for a week or two. not nearly as long as last year, 33 days FOP.

Got an early entry pass to arrive with camp on Thursday. I'll leave Thursday night and after a short stopover in Reno, I should be on playa before noon on Friday. We've got art, two art cars, and a camp full of goodies to get built. No problem.....

FOP in 4 days, then ten days of desert life and out on Monday.

I only get to help build the ridiculous Dome, netting and slide...

You read it the same way I did the first time. The thread is how long Till your on Playa, not how long your going to be On playa. Ill be On playa for 13 ish days.

a few years ago i woulda loved to be on the playa 13 days

but the more i do it the more i realize, without an RV or fridge, (or commissary every day) that my max is about 10 days on the playa

just gets too hard to eat out of a cooler after that long........

(even if one was to have dry ice)

Wait... I thought FOP meant "first on playa," as in the first date the first crews of DPW are allowed to be out there to do their thang*.

*By "thang," I mean a metric buttload of work in a short time under harsh conditions for which I am extremely grateful.

Lemur, I dunno about your food situation but I was out there for 13 days last year and I served bacon & eggs to at least six people every day. From a regular little cooler. Then again, I did some shifts at Ice sales to make sure ice was never a problem. Doing that again this year, we'll see, might go out for breakfast once or twice...
