Should I not bring my new Pod Poi to BM?

Post by N2FBoston » Mon Aug 19, 2013 4:00 pm

So I recently purchased some Pod Poi from flowtoys. I can picture few more fun places to put them to use... but considering they cost me $100+ I'm not sure how I feel about bringing them out in on the playa. This is my first burn, I hear the dust gets EVERYWHERE. Does this mean that even if I keep them in a sealed plastic bag, and only take them out when the wind isn't too bad and the situation seems safe enough, that I still stand no chance of keep them intact?

Thoughts/tips?

Thanks! :)

They'll probably be okay. It's not like you're spinning iPhones or things with lots of ports or moving parts (as far as I can tell--correct me if I'm wrong).

If it were me, I'd risk it. The playa is the perfect place to enjoy glow toys, and delight others with your skills.

That said, the dust does get everywhere, so no one can promise you anything. :)

How about this: if you spin with them everyday and have a brilliant time and people love watching you, but the pod poi collapse a few days after you get home--in effect, making them more like a lease than a purchase--will it have been worth it?

Maybe . . . :)

Pod Poi?! Bring the real deal. They call it Burning Man for a reason.

As far as Fire Poi - If i cannot manage to bring fuel (because I'm flying in) will it be easy enough for me to spin with people, perhaps in exchange for a present/favor :)
