Re: Dont have a camp? Join us!!!
This camp isn't pre-registered so there won't be an assigned location. Once gates open it's land grab time!
The shaded blocks are reserved, and the unshaded blocks will quickly fill from the inner rings out:
http://www.burningman.com/preparation/m ... Web_LG.pdf
Regarding communications:
Airbender et al will be putting a sign at the road sign at 7:00 @ C
Camp Hotel Rug will hopefully be registered with Playa Info @ Center Camp as well.
Are there any plans for a tentative meet-up before the stakes are thrust into the ground?
How about a desired target location that we can aspire towards? (eg, 8:15 & D)
Should we discuss and determine a rough estimate of the area that we'll need to fit everybody? How many cars, RVs, tents, shade structures, etc do we figure we'll have around?

Re: Dont have a camp? Join us!!!
Mhhh, that's a good point panxil, Since we will be posting our location at 7:00 and C, I suggest we try finding some space around there (I like the 9:00 half better anyways
). It seems we have grown quite a bit, so let's figure out space. Three of us will be bringing a pick-up truck, 3 tents, and the ez-up.
Judging by the number of people who have entered themselves into the spreadsheet, and around 7 vehicles, I'm calculating at least 30m x 30m. Depending on how many canopies and shade we have for the common area. Sounds reasonable?

We're in! I too have been a longtime lurker, included in this showcase is a trailer with 20' monkey hut, small genie, lots of lights, and anything else we can lift in or tie down.
Re: Dont have a camp? Join us!!!
Hiya....we are 5 girls from London (23yrs-26yrs) and all Burner virgins....we have wanted to do this for a few years and this year have finally got it together and done it! We have got a RV (it's 30' long...) and will be fully self sufficient...we'll be driving from Vegas....stop off at Lake Tahoe and then onto Black Rock City which we aim to be at by Sunday night... we haven't joint a camp but even though will be self sufficient want to get involved and share our experience with people! Will there be space for us as I can see most people have got tents.. we seem to have a monster truck
if there is we'd love to join you and will add our names to the list! We bring food, music, drinks and laughter!

Re: Dont have a camp? Join us!!!
I have a standard monkey hut w/ shade flap and I park my vehicle as an anchor for the flap so figure 12' X 24'ish footprint. I'm pretty cramped for space but I will try to throw in a couple of extra 2.5gal water jugs for Therapist. I''ll bring a spare cooler for shared space (adequately stocked, of course). I'll also have a few snacks and treats with me. I'll probably have a few spare cheapo tarps (more suitable for ground cover than flapping in the wind I would think). Spare rebar, bungees, clips, paracord, lights, etc.
Oh, I'm probably close to, if not, the oldest in the group. No worries, I'm rarely accused of acting my age.

Hi Playa friends! Well, I just got my ticket and I'm fired up for my 6th Burn. Usually I am part of an 80's camp but this year my friends can't
make it... so is there room for one more? I have a truck & an 18 foot trailer (it's not crazy big). I'll be bringing along a huge library of 80's music
for all to enjoy (Totally Awesome 80's). I would love to join you guys. I'm coming in from Reno and I should arrive late Monday or 1st thing
Tuesday morning. I'm self sufficient and I look forward to a great time in BRC. It sounds like this group/camp will be a blast. Do you have an
idea where your location may be? I hope to meet you all soon. I'll check in later. Thanks!

I'm coming in a box truck with plenty of space if Therapist still needs anything hauled in. That also goes for anyone else that is in need! If anyone wants to throw down on a community monkey hut I can help and transport it in.

Re: Dont have a camp? Join us!!!
mudpuppy had suggested about a week ago that we decide on a rough meeting spot beforehand, and I think this is an idea worth revisiting. Our ride is heading to their camp at around 8 & D and we can likely keep our gear with them while we hop on our trusty bikes and scout the city for y'all, if we know where to look. I know how crazy it will be to find anyone during Sunday night entry madness, but a little bit of effort might pay off. Any suggestions?
Airbender, the 8:00 - 9:00 sector sounds great to me
As far as dimensions, I am just as bad at visualizing in meters as I am in feet, so it's hard to tell if 30m x 30m will be enough. I think myself and perhaps others would benefit from a visual aid...
With that said, here is an open draw doc where we can create a cartoon camp with fuzzy dimensions. I have added a few items but it is not by any means complete. Better than nothing for my head! Please feel free to edit or add as you see fit.
https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1NNx ... sp=sharing
Theraplst, we might be able to grab 2.5gal jug for ya on the way down!
leismanpo and emwell, hello and welcome!

Re: Dont have a camp? Join us!!!
I think that 8:30 and H should be the starting point. Somewhere in that block. I'm not sure how practical it is to plan on a spot there but I know there will not a lot of space on G.
Re: Dont have a camp? Join us!!!
I am coming in late, probably on Thrusday. I am driving a rented car, bringing a
bike
tent (2 person)
lot of food, water and drinks
2 chairs
1 floor mat
basic first aid
Probably a keg.
Also, I am going to experiment building a evaporator this week, if successful we will have a shower!!
since I am coming mid week I can bring refills for the camp, If you can somehow manage to communicate from Playa or tell me before hand what to get I will get it. This is my first year and I am confused what kind of food to get, Can anyone suggest what is best ?
Can you please please hold a place for one car
Therapist, Water for you is already on my list.
Still have no clue how to find you all !!
I can be reached at +1-979-739-2997 or [email protected]

Re: Dont have a camp? Join us!!!
Vishram, they are calling themselves Hotel Rug Camp and will be posting their location on a signpost at the intersection of 7:00 and C. If they're rock stars, they will also post it at Playa Info at Center Camp. Hopefully they can save you a little space, but it may be difficult to hold it til Thursday. Send a PM to Drmilamores.
I can't wait to hear about Hotel Rug's adventures after the Burn. I hope everything goes wonderfully for you guys.

The larger you are, the further out you will have to go (especially since not everyone will arrive when Gates open) . . . but you'll probably have an amazing time.

Maybe a long shot but figured i would ask: My girlfriend and I are in the midst of traveling from NY (currently in Ohio!) and trying to figure out a bike situation. Our truck is completely packed and i'm wondering if anyone is planning/can bring an extra bike or two? Let me know if we can work something out!

Re: Dont have a camp? Join us!!!
Hi all,
I was a part of this camp last year and I figure I'd mention some things that are easy to forget to bring.
Tarp – generally useful. You could put it under your tent to help protect it, or somehow over your tent for shade.
Good tent stakes – worth researching what stakes to get so your tent doesn't fly away. I used to keep a case of water in my tent for insurance.
Sleeping surface, pillow, warming layers, ear plugs – know what you need to get a good night's rest. You may want to invest in a small blanket for a quick and easy way to warm yourself around camp, instead of having to change.
Sacrificial rug – We already have a large hotel rug, but considering how many people we have now, one or two more couldn't hurt.
Christmas lights – I don't think we have any yet, so if anyone's got some, they're great for decorating and a good way to identify our camp in the middle of the night. Speaking of which, we should probably have a sign or marker of some kind—something to identify us as Camp Hotel Rug.
Kitchen paraphernalia – Everyone always forgets something small like a sponge or a spoon. Garbage bags are a must. Then again, I think we've got each other covered with this. Convenient foods such as nuts, fruit(dried of otherwise), beef jerky, snack packs, and chips are good, but you'll definitely want some hot food if possible. If so, remember things like oil to cook with or salt.
Bike – will make your experience at BM extremely convenient, so bring one if possible. You can get them for cheap in Reno.
Portable cup – Free booze is provided everywhere, but you're expected to have your own drinking container.
Personal hand sanitizer
Hat - preferable with a way to fasten it so that it won't blow away.
Spray bottles – A cool mist on your face can sometimes feel divine in the desert.
A book or board/card game – for when you just want to kill some time at camp.
Tickets – Every year, a good handful of people forgets their tickets. This should be the first and last thing to make sure you have(unless you have a will-call ticket, then make sure you have your confirmation number).
Also, just to reiterate. We don't have a set location. The first of us to arrive will grab the best space we can. We will post the location of this space on the signpost at 7 & C and will also register where we are at Playa Info under Camp Hotel Rug. According to the Burning Man website, Playa Info will be at Center Camp & 6, and the Playa Info directory will be manned from 9am to 6pm. So the earliest we may be able to register is Monday morning. We will be trying to find a place somewhere around the 8:30 & H area. Though as we get more and more people, I think we'll have to find a place further back.
To anyone who wants to join, everyone is welcome. But please make sure to confirm in this google doc:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... MNGc#gid=0
This is so we can plan for everyone and make sure there is enough space. I'll leave it to Drmilamores to decide when we've had enough people.
Looking forward to seeing you all.
Sincerely,
Key

Re: Dont have a camp? Join us!!!
Not to piss in anyone's cornflakes, but since you are looking to camp on the 8:30 spoke wouldn't it be better if you put up a sign on 8:30 and say.. L in order to facilitate finding the camp? Much easier since you don't have to drive inward then over, then back out again. Shit will get hectic that far in on 7&C. You're welcome, that's just my gift to you!
Bonus: On 8:30&L you only have two corners= less confusion/ easier to see your sign

True. I'm just paranoid about changing things unnecessarily and possibly confusing someone. Meh, Think I'll just put up an extra sign at 8:30 & H along with the one on 7 & C. So I can rest easy.

No matter where you camp, write ur camp address down on your body in marker.
why u ask.
Last year after setting up camp, JR and I went for a ride. We were lost for an hour but then found camp ate dinner left again. This time we got split up. It took me literally ten hours of riding my bike up and down streets to find camp. JR was gone for almost 24 hours and we didnt find him til he texted where he was and we picked him up. I know what ur thinking but there was no partying involved he was sober the whole time
Side note: Always wait 48 hours before reporting someone as missing.

I know location is super important but when you get a moment, please let me know if you are still open for one more to join. By the response, It looks like it's going to be reasonably big camp. Howdy friends!
My name is BabyG, I'm a 7 year veteran Burner from Toronto, Canada.
I was planning to take the year off Burning Man to save up for other adventures but was offered a free ticket and low cost ride which got me excited to go. Unfortunately that all fell through but now I'm jazzed to go, dogh!
The last two years I went I was on the outer ring. I am hoping to secure a spot at a theme camp.
Do you, or a group you know of, have room for myself and possibly others to join you??
Please email [email protected] (you can also check me out on facebook with that name with (G) after it in brackets.. ) or call/text 416.627.1985 as soon as you are able to!
I'm a super cool, super fun, laid back, cute, friendly gal who would make a great and smooth addition to any zone!
Much love, hope to hear from you sooon!

I"m so glad to have stumbled upon this thread and all of you. I'm interested in joining as well. Total newbie but I camp/travel a lot and a handyman team player from Austin, Texas. I arrive on Thursday and am out Sunday. I don't don't really know the camp protocol to get included but I'm interested. Thanks! Chris
