Classy!
When he lights his streetlamp, it is as if he brought one more star to life, or one flower.
When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep.
That is a beautiful occupation.

This has been a week or two long project. But, I got it done over the weekend and feel like getting pics posted today.
We didn't make the bike. We bought it from a (he claims) retired burner. He blew out his hip last year, sat at camp all week in serious pain so no one had to cut their burn short. A year later he still can't ride a bike, doesn't know if he'll ever be able to. He didn't want the fish bike sitting at home not getting used, so he sold it to us for pennies compared to what he put into it. I have a feeling he'll be out of retirement in a year or two.

This is our Angler Fish bike. The pictures don't do it justice. The dark picture is what it will look like on playa. The el wire in the back is the tail. The little orange light in the back up high is roughly 11ft off the ground. It will blink slowly on playa, in continuous on for the pic. The little white light in the front is the light/lure that an angler fish uses to lure in other fish.
Fish Bike no flash.jpg
This is the bike with the el wire still on, but my garage light and camera flash on. Its hard to see the bike's shape, but you can see the 2 orange right side tires and the left side front tire. Also, the Princess seat in the back up high. The princess seat doesn't have pedals, just a seat and handle bars.

Been loading, shifting, and reloading the plane to make sure all my crap will fit in it and stay within weight and CG. Sadly this leaves me no room for a costume. I'm going to wear my pilot outfit instead. Oh, wait! I'll also have my naked pilot outfit too.

Chocolate chip cookie dough made, scooped out and frozen
Grilled cheese sandwhiches prepped and frozen
Sausages grilled with peppers/onions/fennel cooked and frozen
Ice cream bars - ordered
Checked on the dry ice order - still on schedule
Panty hose packets of coffee prepared and frozen
Post playa motel room booked
2nd Monkey hut for a "guest house" finished
"two cherries in a bowl of milk" hangover mask finished/painted

Tonight's list
Prep the black beans and rice
Prep the coffee cake
Start chillin the drinks
More Ice, More Ice, More Ice
The next morning you will wake up pretty much your old self except that a very unusual 16 hours will have been added to your store of life experience.

Fly in to land in the morning, crash in the afternoon. Oops, I meant not achieve sufficient lift in the afternoon.

Root beer and fried bacon in freezer, car emptied and cleaned before loading tomorrow, pile in living room gleaned again, and sorted again, I am leaving late Thursday or early Friday. Trailer wiring rechecked, gas cans in car, and tent, cot, table, stove kitchen box and garage shelter, rope bag and rebar, tap light bucket, garden light bucket, blinkies, headlamps, misc. torches, all the things.

icebox and foodbox will be last thing Thursday, before gassing up and driving. :coffee:

studying map and figuring out where friends and things might be

3:00 side of things seems desirable

can't really fathom the scale of things

considering cross streets from G out - so really 3:15ish (towards 3:30)

i'm sure we'll find space for our modest camp of two

we'll see what the "playa provides" on Wednesday AM, lol

I stay at 3:30 and J, I really like that area. I am about 100 years from the jots, nice neighborhood. Not too noisy, few RVs, still a lot of activity going on. The view of the hills is unobstructed, and we see the planes as they come in and out. I guess one stays where they first land, so I always stay at 3:30 and J. It was my first address. I leave in.....14 hours. Crap! Am I ready yet? Been packing all day.

Try this: http://burnermap.com/welcome.php

You can print out mailing labels from that too.

I'm going to call it Larry's Law. Everything goes wrong the day or two before you leave. Yeah, you measured it all to make sure, but the tent doesn't fit in the cooler after all! Yay, you don't have to fret over whether or not you're going to Ranger this year, because you don't have room to pack your khaki clothes. Yeah, you thought you had a ticket, who knows?? That money you were going to rely on for travel food costs, you didn't get put on the schedule this week for some reason, so meditate while you fast. Mmm...premenstrual hormonal disequilibrium making your brain not want to work and everything hurt.

I bought postcard stamps today, and figured out what to wear with these.

Tittie Twirlers are great - the guy who makes them camps in our village btw (at least he did last year).

No kidding?? If you see him, I want to meet him! They were a random surprise gift at Transformus. I wore them with my medieval goth metal queen overlord outfit (the previous pasties were black stars). When I rode on the golfcart, they spun like crazy. Hilarious.

Tied my MH jig

Made my treat for the M&G and a batch of brownies

Packed all my clothes (well almost, I realized I'm going to need extra socks)

Mowed the lawn, trimmed the bushes, and edged.

Canceled the newspaper.

Double checked that my ticket is in it's super secret location.

All that is left to do is to make a couple of sandwiches in the morning, pack the cooler, load laptop, extra socks and book.

Just loaded up a playlist with a whole lotta punk and punk rock*, and some rock'n'roll, only to plug in the ipod to transfer and learn it's dead. Larry's Law strikes again!

That's amazing. Always worth the time to screw around.
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

To purple or not to purple, I need to decide tomorrow.

I just found out I know someone who can ship stuff insanely cheap! After I've got it all packed and set up to fly with. Next year...

Spray painted signs on old fence planks for camp and for the bar.
“Camp Threat. Under No Management. Now with 20% More botulism.”
“Eternal Flame 5:45-6pm”
"Run Hippie Run”
along with a Yard Sale sign for after the burn.
And to hang on the trash fence at our make-shift bar-
“Last Bar on Earth” on the side facing in, and
“First Bar on Playa” facing out to greet our ticketless comrades as they elude the combined security forces making it across the barren wasteland, and make it to our ice cold Margaritas, at the first bar on the playa. At which point we fulfill our obligation to the 12th principle and turn them over to the authorities.

Truck washed, vacummed , and shampooed. It hadn't been done in almost a year. New Christmas tree air freshener to!
Washed all our laundry, throwing it in closet and dealing with it when I come back.
My bag and toms bag are pretty much packed.

Few lose ends to finish tonight then cleaning the apartment top to bottom before my last day of work. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Risky still owes me a dive bar crawl from 2009!

I am about to try and take a mental break from the freaking out (no word on my ticket situation, yet + seemingly fairly squared away packing-wise, which always makes me nervous, WHAT AM I FORGETTING????). Sew on some patches to my belt (only have room for the boring khaki/Ranger one, trying to jazz it up so people think I am interesting and want to talk to me!), drink some tequila, watch some Breaking Bad.
