Do the 2.5 gallon suitcase (with spigot) water jugs have enough expansion room in them to freeze solid?
Do any of you guys do this?

Nothing that big, but my 1 gallons have to be only 3/4 full or they split.

Every year, with those 2 1/2 gallon jugs, the seam splits on one or the spit pops during the migration, and this is without freezing.

Well, I used to freeze 1 liter bottles without incident.
Now I have a reusable bottle.

Re: Freezing bottled water
If you can get your hands on milk crates, each one holds two of the 2.5s and protects them from splitting. However, if you try to store them in your pantry after the event, they eventually just split all on their lonesomes and make you think you have a leak in your basement.Lonesomebri wrote:Every year, with those 2 1/2 gallon jugs, the seam splits on one or the spit pops during the migration, and this is without freezing.
