Free ticket because I got scammed?!?

What's with the "I got scammed buying tickets so can some body please give me a free one?" posts I've noticed lately? Are more people getting scammed or is this just a new begging technique? Or maybe both?

We see this all the time on the subway in NYC. I got robed abs need some money for xyz.

Some story has to be told, so make it a good one. Illnesses, scams, fires, robberies etc. It's all good!

It's probably more common.
More importantly, more devastating at $400 per, $800 for a couple.

I think there were more tickets given away when they were $60.

The scammed excuse, real or not, usually makes me less sympathetic to their cause.

It's happened to a lot of people in the past, many on eplaya.

Most of these ticket sales require a certain amount of trust on one side or the other.
The buyer is usually at a disadvantage.

Last year I remember sitting in front of my camp late one night when a group came walking by and I asked if any of them had an extra ticket. One of did.

The Black Rock City Subway System has discount tickets for volunteers to work a shift on the subway system. 20% for each full shift worked. Right now the are plenty of playa tamper positions available. So it is possible to ge a full discount.

Yes, I got my ticket and an Early Entry for volunteering with the BRC Subway System. I am supposed to help with lower level sinage and the oiling of escalators. Trilo prompted me to do it. Nice working in the shade......
