Warning: Reno Keystone Save Mart water has NO HOSE

Post by burn2burn » Thu Aug 22, 2013 7:38 pm

And no drive up! Saw today.

This year the pencil pushers would not allow Reno Save Mart to fill our water containers with drive through and a hose.

So you must bring smaller containers you can fit in these idiotic, slow vending machines they have instead.

Totally senseless and counter productive automation.

40 cents a gallon.

If you want to get hosed you must go somewhere else.

uh. I go to Save Mart on Keystone to buy my water. I take a combo of 2.5 gal. suitcases and some single gallons out to the playa. I would not expect to pull up with 5 gallon containers and get free water. Wow. Entitled much?

Read again....I am not saying it should be free I am saying there is no hose so you must remove containers from your car. Some people come with 50+ gallon containers where that is impossible.

Sounds like we will be lugging containers to the little vendy machines this year, that's going to be less efficient than the water stations with fill hoses that they've had in years past. It's also going to screw folks with big immovable containers in their vehicles.

These lines in the OP makes it look like you are saying you can't pull up and get your containers filled for free. If in the past they offered some sort of bulk water sale and it's not an option this year, perhaps you could have said that, and offered another solution? I read that you are warning people away from the Keystone because there is no free water this year. Just my impression from your post, and I happen to really like the Save Mart there and all they do for the Burners, including trash and recycle areas to help with the aftermath.

There are many water resources listed on the BM pages. Some even offer on playa water delivery...

Saw a lot of folks there early this afternoon.

I think it's great what they do for the BM community, but my problem is that parking lot can be tight. Regular shoppers on top of a dozen motorhomes, RV's etc.

NO HOSE is pretty clear.
Anyone reading the prep info already knows, so why should you expect him to repost all that info. He's providing the unexpected new, which is NO HOSE.
As to their helping, they make money off the reycle and they keep selling plastic shit to burners and keep pushing the 2ply toilet paper for BRC even though they've been told many times they should be having 1 ply available for BRC.

You know what?

You don't like it, don't shop there. Simple really.

Save Mart is a sweet grocery store. Beats walfuckingmart any day. And they treat their employees a hundred percent better than fuckwalmart does.

Hi all,

First-time burner here. SO STOKED!!! Is the Keystone Save Mart the grocery where a lot of burners go before they reach BRC? I heard that there's a grocery in Reno that is an experience to visit on the way in (because all of the burners stocking up). Wondering if this is it? Thanks in advance.

It is.
And after the burn as people drop off recycle.
The Kiwanis Bike Program tries to keep some spare bikes for sale there in a Bike Coral too.
West Plumb Savemart often has lower prices... and some Burner specific items (EL wire) that they'll move up to Keystone as it sells out there.

Although it's pretty hard for a store in Reno to not have Burners in it.

Another popular store is in the South end, Whole Foods Market, with some of the staff dressing up as though they're on the playa. (South Virgina & Neil, next to the 580).
And a touch North of there is Trader Joe's, to the NE of South McCarran & South Virgina.

In the NW at North McCarran near Seventh has my fav of the Reno Walmarts, with nearby a Save Mart, UPS Store, Walgreens, Starbucks for wifi.
With the main influx over, the walmart at Kietzke Lane, near the 580 and the 80, shouldn't be the crazy zoo it is on Sunday.

So why are you not buying water in Gerlach? Seems like a no brainer to me.
