Everything is packed in the plastic storage boxes. Cooler stuff is in the fridge getting cool. Going back over everything I see that I'm missing one item - nasal spray. Caught Playa lung last year and definitely don't want it again this year. Decompression a week after Burning Man is a trans-Pacific cruise from Vancouver to Hawaii. Any sign of a cough and you are not allowed on-board
You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.

Yeah, a sub-camp of former rangers or friends of rangers that aren't actually ranging this year. At least I think none of us are. But that's where I am, when sleeping! :)

That's cool! I am still debating taking a year off, this year...

Did y'all see the lastest weather news? Pretty crazy.

RE Playa Lung: take it from me, who learned the hard way! Take care of your lungs! Wear that mask! Clean out those passages - and moisturize! Try to keep your tent dust-free. Last year was the first year I wore dust masks, and it made a difference. Also a difference, sleeping in a mesh tent with the mesh not covered. Woke up coughier than usual (I didn't set it up). Also have a ton of lozenges, this year. I don't know exactly why, but it's in my notes (I keep notes all week, on what to do better/bring/don't bring next year - invaluable).

Wow. Packed. At office. Leaving for airport in 7 hours. Full day of work.

Box with lion broke. Rewrapped in everything imaginable to keep it safe. We'll see. I might need some glue when I get to reno.

Shade structures and I have a serious love/hate relationship. First it was a heavy duty carport. Next was an umbrella. I just drilled some holes in tent poles and plan to use a sail as shade. I put it up in the back yard. UGLY! (But shady).

I made the circus tent and decided that I had lost my mind. It would have been too hot, not shady enough and won't take ANY wind. But it's beautiful. I'll use it in Auburn for the Fairies. I'm done..............

We head out tomorrow to San jose to a friends for the night, then we geek out at some salvage yards and thrift shops... then head out to Reno on saturday and geek out again. Then head out on sunday to hopefully chill out on the highway with peeps while we await entry. Still got repairs to do to the DC-9 tailwings, haven't loaded the trailer at all and the pvc moon rover is still in pieces. Gettin pretty damn excited, i must say! :D :D

This is officially my last post before I make like a baby, and head out!

I'm suffering through the final hours of work, trying to look busy...

I should have the trailer hitched up and on the road by 8pm. It's about time!

Be safe everyone, and I hope to see you when you get home!

I did that too. And brought patches and a big air compressor!
I've peeled trailer tires off their rims enroute to BRC when I had to make a tight maneuver.
It's kinda life-or-death to be able to put them back on!!

We are on our way out the door in about an hour. If anyone sees a trailer loaded down with old beat up airplane wings on their ride out to the playa, be sure to wave to us! See you lot out there! :D

Bike rack will be mounted today. External air filter will be placed on the cabin air intake on the hood of the Jeep. It allows me to run the air conditioner without sucking in dust to the cabin. Well, very, very little dust

Will sleep over at the grave pit.. Bout forty mile out from BRC.. Go in to Gerlach Sun. and talk to others waiting for the gate.. Have picnic food for the trip and layover..

This year at burning man there is going to be a LEO camp located right in center camp. I think it is pretty awesome that they are embracing the event and really becoming participants. As a thank you it would be awesome to help them build a kick ass sculpture in front of their camp. LIGHT BULB moment. A watermelon pyramid. Here is how we will make this happen. Everyone that wants to help should bring a watermelon with them to the playa. When you have a minute, pop by and drop off the watermelon to their camp. Give them a hug, and thank them for participating. Feel free to hang out and help construct the pyramid, or if you don't have time, simply the leave the watermelon in their capable hands. Their camp is at 6 and should be next to the ranger station. if it just 10k bring a watermelon and help them make a giant watermelon pyramid, that would be pretty epic. A project that would rival the man. Also, it just seems a great way to help them be a bigger and more integral part of the event. I expect rangers to participate double. That means 2 watermelons and at least 15 minutes of standing around telling them how to safely construct this beautiful sculpture.
