I really don't want to talk about politics, it gets people's blood pressure up for no good reason. I don't really care what anyone's political leanings are, so far I really like everyone here. I will love Republicans and Democrats, and Libertarians ... and maybe even a Green or two ;) so please, lets keep that in the political threads, shall we?

I agree there are enough other venues for politics.

The Red Sox won the World Series! I am really really happy!
ok truce no more political stuff, but sometimes I hear that kind of talk in the bars I go to, but hey, you're the boss, here and when the woman wants to be the boss, I just say....well, ok honey, if that's what you really want!

I just wanna keep the bar a happy place...and yes, there are several political threads out there. maybe it's that my workday is pulserate-raising enough...i don't wanna get riled up in my off time...

but thanks for understanding a woman's need to be in control of some things...
and i *do* remember you saying you're from Raphael...i love saying that RAH!-fai-yel! yeah... come on up any time! there's a great divey bar up here, and a terrific local music scene.

good choice, geek! i bet if you saved the grenadine for last you could drizzle it in and make it look like blood oozing down into the drink...

Good morning. As usual, I'll put on the coffee pot for the early risers.

Love hearing everyone's ideas for what to do with virgin burners. I think it could be great. You'll need lots of help, so count me in should it happen.

~sweeping floor w/boarbristle broom~

Hmmpf. What the heck is all this, then? Effigies of politicos, sports banners with bottle rockets tied to em' (all it... damn), and the head of Venus d Milo duct-taped to a vinyl record. Hmm. Quiet last night.

Thanks, fellow traveller! I had planned on not focusing too much on any organization or anything until after the holidays. At this point I would just kind of get the word out that the idea exists and let people chew on it on their own for a while. After the New Year we can get busy. I figure many people already have a lot going on this time of year.

Congratulations, Cowboy, on your team winning the World Series. It is a good thing the Cubs weren't in it. It would be like the buttered cat*. The last game would probably be rained out forever.

*Buttered Cat: Since a cat always lands on its feet and toast always lands butter-side-down ... if you fasten a piece of buttered toast to a cat's back and then drop the cat, it should fall until it is inches from the floor and then spin forever.

I once picked up a bag of those eyes on gp from this place.
Round here we have 3 of these places And here's a page with national links.
Also, that's a good sort of freecycle type item, perhaps.
Do you still know people in the museum trade? You must have all sorts of fabrication skills and perhaps they have scrap. I actually am cleaning out ~10 years of collecting for assemblage and would be willing to donate if there's a local (bay area) address for that. (Or if one manifests.) I just don't really want to hold on to the stuff--too much clutter and my husband was a little paturbed by the gifting I did of costume this year and how much room that took up in the truck, so I don't want to get into carrying a lot up to the playa myself. Too bad I freecycled those sea shells this week. . .

Ha! Just think of what the Bay Bridge series brought and be grateful. A permie rainout would be nothing to THAT violation of the space/time continuum.

My name is Chris from Alcohol Beverage Control.
I've been observing over the past couple months since this bar opened that not once have the Bartenders asked for ANY form of ID to prove their patrons are of legal drinking age.

As I'm sure you know, the legal drinking age is 21.
If this bar thread continues to flaunt the conditions of its license and does not start a rigorous ID check before serving alcohol to customers,
ABC will have NO choice but to revoke the license of this establishment and close this thread.

There will be NO further warnings !
ABC.

p.s. Ya got any Tuaca back there ?

Wait a minute ... I thought there was a checkbox ... maybe it was a pulldown menu ... yeah, I am sure there was a checkbox where people were required to certify they were over 21 ... yeah, there was. It was the same kind of thing that was used over on the Adults Only area of ePlaya to certify that users really were adults. You know ... A CHECKBOX!

*emerges bleary-eyed from her tent in the back*

Wha..!!???? uh...erm....riiiiiiight.

y'know I DO have one big-ass bottle of Tuaca right over here that's I've been savin' jus' fer you, cuz I remember how you like it.... *wink*

and as a matter of fact, we HAVE been checking IDs, it's just been all non-verbal, and we get tired of typing out all the e-miming, y'know...

*bartender nods at customers wallet indicating need for ID*

*customer nods in understanding and pulls out ID for bartender*

*bartender thoroughly scrutinizes ID and hands it back smiling then turns to attend to customers drink*

See?? just so damn time-consuming!!! Now let's mosey on over to this little corner booth over here and see about that Tuaca, huh??

Hey Zu,

sorry for the late reply, I was off to go hang out with yer kind. Doing an installation with a pretty wacky optical gag with some character animation popped in for flavor.

We have a fair amount of folks here who have drifted into and out of the museum design scene. Lots of work for that type of stuff at epcot and sponsored pre and post-shows. Very geeky and neat stuff.
