Live stream in demo mode
I know they have had a tough time this year getting on line, but someone has left the camera in demo mode all afternoon and evening. Can someone use smoke signals to tell them to take 1 minute and get off demo mode? Somebody help!!!!

Re: Live stream in demo mode
I noticed that too. I understand that setting is how it comes "out of the box". It appears that it's a new camera and the set up person wasn't aware of this.
Annoying, isn't it?

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Re: Live stream in demo mode
The sad thing is that they were messing around with the camera a couple days ago. I watched them switch out of demo mode! Seems like they threw the camera up and went on playa mode....where do I sign up to volunteer for this next year! We need our fix of Home!!!
Re: Live stream in demo mode
Is there any way to get word to them that it isn't working?
Re: Live stream in demo mode
I keep getting emails that Ustream is on live...but it never is.

Re: Live stream in demo mode
When the camera first started showing the playa, it wasn't on Demo mode. Then very shortly it was.

Re: Live stream in demo mode
That's good to hear! However, the fix for the Demo Mode takes 10 seconds in the setup menu. Must be something else they are working on...or they lost the user's manual!
Re: Live stream in demo mode
they're aware the feed is down, apparently a number of issues blocking them
when the camera's aim changed from the wall to the wires, it briefly was on the back of the monitor, and someone was typing away, and other signs of much movement of their shadows over the time the wire view was available, with someone standing down the room watching them

Re: Live stream in demo mode
It lets me practice having "no expectations." I think of the live stream as a gift, not a given.

Can someone call Sony and ask what button to push to get out of demo mode?

Re: Live stream in demo mode
My old Sony would go in to sleep mode after a bit if I wasn’t actively filming something. I'm assuming they hit record & are not just trying to stream the image without recording it. Either way thanks for trying. It was a great thought for those of us stuck at home (Not Home). We will just have to be satisfied listening to BMIR. I think I will start a "Need 1 2014 ticket” thread now. I refuse to miss 2 years in a row.

Hey everyone.. long time. I took this year off, so I'm just hiding in a basement this week.
Nice to see I'm not the only one not getting the video. I really hope they get it up and going by tonight so I can see all the regional burns.

Re: Live stream in demo mode
Then don't advertise it! Don't put it in the JRS, don't talk it anywhere in the Burning Man documentation and don't put it on the home page, ever. You can not promise something and whip out the excuse, "Well, it was a gift!". No, you said you were going to do it, so do it.tummler wrote:It lets me practice having "no expectations." I have always said that Burning Man org is too tolerant of screw ups and flat out fuck ups. They should make it clear to Volunteers, "You are volunteering for this position and you will complete it properly or you will be blacklisted from any position at Burning Man, paid or not." Sounds harsh, but putting some expectation on people does filter out the screw ups. There are a bunch of people out there who love to do the Ustream Cam for Burning Man, gain the experience and feel good they really contributed to something awesome.

It's live right now. But they must be adjusting it because it's pointing to the ground. But at least it isn't in demo mode anymore.

I have never, ever, known this to be the case. I wouldn't call your comments harsh, just totally out of touch with reality.

Re: Live stream in demo mode
If you're talking about people promising to stop by this camp or that art installation, you're right. But if you're talking about the people that volunteer to set up the city, work an ice or greeters or cafe shift, playa info, etc., etc., those people almost ALL keep their committments.remi wrote:jkisha wrote:I have never, ever, known this to be the case. So obviously,if you have ever been to the playa, you have never volunteered.

No one here mentioned the crew for the last 12 years or so was the same crew and did a great job?! wtf? give 'em a break (although I do now dislike SOOOONEEEE) 20 seconds of playa and 40 seconds of sony adverts! *uck you! hahaha.... OMFG!
They JUST got it to work, hilarious imho....let's see how long they can keep it going and be thankful for the years it took for the past (now retired crew) to get it to run smoothly for over a decade (with their OWN equipment now less) and hope that Camp Empty Envy can do a better job next year. Be thankful for the gift of whatever they have done so far (except the sony fracking ads!) and will hopefully continue to do for this year and future years. At least i can get some frickin' work done =, knowing there isn;t much more than advertisements for SONY! running 2/3rds of the time...Yay! NOT!
Here's to future years and continued live cam coverage to we off playa burners...cheers!
You shoulda seen the awesome fire cocktails The Volcanos~ we blasted off on my birthday this past Tuesday, Whoa!!!
Missing all of you,
