The hilarious part about this is that nothing I ever did was meant to be sexual. As my husband so aptly put it, "this is the week we let the puppy out". That fucking puppy is all over everyone, but sex is not at all what its about. I wish most of all I could have recorded some of that "flirting", as some of those conversations were the most important and insightful I've had all year.

Don't know. several years ago a BLM ranger pulled me over for doing 8 in a 5 just past greeters.

I got talking to him but said I worked for the same Federal Govt as him. We compared jobs but I think all this surprised him and I left without a ticket.

I have a (thankfully very short) list of people I KNOW that I offended, which I totally realize may well get longer, as only two people came out and told me On the Spot how they felt about my shenanigans (and one of those was more a volume issue as I almost blew unjohn's hearing aide out "helping" to shut people the fuck up).

Being Canadian, I have to apologize ad nauseum to each and every one which tends to be more of a bummer than the original transgression to the poor receiver.

All right, I'm not reading four pages of negative stuff, but I'll allow myself this one venting:

Three out of four of the bicycles I repaired in the early days of the event were bikes that were patently defective when the owner brought it into BRC. The owners reported buying the darned things for 20 to 40 dollars on Craigslist, and at garage sales and flea markets and such, and from the Reno bike recyclers, and even out of a roadside truck... AND THEY EXPECTED THESE PIECES-OF-SHIT TO ACTUALLY BE RIDE-ABLE JUST AS THEY WERE PURCHASED! I don't know what to call this phenomenon, but it is pathetic. Please spread the word.

Next year I just may refuse to repair such bikes.

You know Elliot, that would piss me off too! I have been considering camping by you next year and fixing a bike or two, but yeah, back when I had the 9:00 bike repair camp I wasn't there to fix bikes that were already broken when the unprepared dumb-ass brought it to BRC.

The problem naturally faded after the first few days, and toward the end of the week all my bike repair was sheer joy. And next year I will also set strict shop hours. I may still want/need to leave occasionally, so a relief mechanic would be a godsend. Similarly, I might occasionally relieve you as skipper of your Ship, so you can enjoy an adult beverage. We might also be able to consolidate some infrastructure, like generator power. Let's explore this by PM.

Good that you flipped out, but yes, giving her some illumination would've been good to pair words with action -- and prevent something like that from happening again to someone else. That's a bummer but makes total sense. I'd put out the word/rule that if a problem like you describe is found, to get to bike repaired they need to work or donate or something. If they are saving on a bike they should be able to bring a spare gear, pedal, tube...

We can eat, drink, bike, walk, talk, visit camps, see art etc... We'll look up old friends and I can introduce you to new ones. The playa can be an overwhelming lonely place. You could have helped me find those damn MONKEYS. (The highlight of the art projects that I never saw.) I can steer you towards fun volunteer opportunities. Introduce you to lovies. Generally kill time in a most pleasant manner. Every year is better than the last.

And how hideous that they rejected you for being too "burnery." A bit less distain on their part might help everyone. But fuck 'em if they don't want to be a part of this wonderful community. I watched them sideline themselves Sunday night after Gates opened; Ranger Station Berlin completely dark and deserted, no one home, no one available to help the streams of lost and confused people wondering where the fuck they were supposed to be... yeah the dazed & confused all came to my Med Station to be welcomed Home with hugs and fire.
