As a further note about the guide being so limited, I'd like to give a tip on what I've learned to do over the years.
On the BMORG website the w/w/w guide continues beyond the limited amount made to print. I spend a lot of my spare time of prep work browsing through that list. If I see an interesting event or camp I want to visit I make a note of it in the journal that I keep all year specifically for Burning Man. Part of my journal is a free form calendar where I just fill in the events on the day and time. I might add a little note to remind myself what it's about.
Then when I get out to the playa I keep my journal with me but, and this is key, I do not use it as a guide. I let myself go where I will and do what I want in the moment. If I find myself with free time or a moment of boredom I'll pop open my journal and flip to the appropriate day and time and see what's happening that sparked my interest and made it into my journal. Then I go over and join in the fun.
Basically I create my own tailored to me w/w/w guide.
Leave expectations and any semblance of a schedule behind though. That is a sure way to stress and disappointment. Just enjoy being in the moment.

Love it. So many ideas. So many old hands too probably thinking I didn't get it. But I love the flow of ideas here and yes, hopefully I will be able to come back and yes, I will ditch the book. Just wander. And jkisha - you want to be patronising, save it for someone else.

Don't ditch the book. It is actually quite helpful. Just don't depend on the book. And don't even expect that you can get into certain events or whatnot.Dancingcrone wrote:Love it. So many ideas. You'll get distracted. You'll be late. You'll have conflicting events. Supplies will run out. The book is just a guide if something piques your interest.
Make plans, but don't build expectations. Just go with the flow and enjoy where you are. That way when someone tells you "oh did you see THAT?" and you didn't, you'll still be content with what you were doing at the time.

The best part of not finding what you seriously think Burning Man should have, is you know what to bring next year.
