None of the dudes were attention whores; believe me. The guy tipping the hat was just making a goofy pose. The guy farthest to the left is one of the nicest, funniest guys I've ever met; that's his wife hanging off of him. They have an 18 month son who they left at home with grandparents. Asian guy in the front is just a big goof ball. Not sure why I'm giving all this info Just defending everyone in the picture aside from the insufferable pink furry one.

You will enjoy a camp atmosphere consisting of a bricked hipster apartment with hardwood floors and metal railings, and take on the role of college students, professional bloggers, or graphic designers. Your food consists of fast food that one hipster-doofus has brought in and shared -- which you must at least act like you enjoy eating. Only Coca Cola or (iced) fruit juice products will be served. Every camp member must be extremely cheery, and act with total acceptance or indifference to each other's ethnic or racial differences, but not associate too much with any others. Only safe, positive jokes will be allowed. No controversy! Also, you're bound to ensure that the minimal demographics of the camp are maintained. No friends will be allowed into camp unless unless they maintain the camp balance.

Yggy, I saw your picture with Asquared and you definitely are not a sparkle pony! You look like a cross between Chris Kristofferson and Sam Elliott.

As an aside, I've looked at that picture that I posted earlier with the eye of someone who doesn't know any of the people in it, and I came to the conclusion that we all look like douchebags; the sparkle pony just looks the douchiest.

It really is hard to judge a sparkle pony by their cover. Fancy-looking people are not automatically sparkle ponies at all, although sparkle ponies do have a tendency to lay it on thick . . . because they have to.

When sparkle ponies are aptly costumed, especially in the more commonly seen outfits, it's very easy to vengefully enjoy the stereotype.

The downside is that generous, self-reliant people who have always wanted to wear some crazy frivolous thing feel like they can't, and that's sad.

My solution: wear stupid shit if you wanna, no matter what.

Personally, I find a sparkle pony betrays themself by actions - not how they are dressed. Although I go out of my way to be mellow and welcoming at the burn, after several bad sparlkle pony encounters - I really lost my cool with a sparkle pony this year (she stalked off in tears).

Somehow that does not bother me at all (she was likely just clinging on for my booze anyway - it's not like I look like sparkle pony bait anywway).

Guilty but in a different sort of way (as in "what's with the Simon Cowell thing?") Oddly I've been dressing that way since the 70's, it's comfortable for me. Besides it's my not so subtle, subtle statement (in both worlds). I always found it a bit humorous that BM is one of the few places we are covertly and sometimes overtly urged to conform to non-conformity (as ridiculous as the concept may be).

At times it can be difficult but we really are obligated to put, skin color, ethnicity, dress, and labels like spectator, frat boy, sparkle pony hippie, raver aside.

Not to is to deny human potential.

I appreciate the humor and the sense of community it provides but it can lead to a slippery slope of self-perpetuating misery.

While my camp did not actually have a strict "NO PINK FUR CLOTHES" rule in place, I know that with my upbringing and the pressure of society influences, those types would never make it into my truck, tent or shade shelter. It wasn't because of color though....it's just, those people..... I am glad to see that they eventually found a welcome elsewhere. I fully support the complete inclusion of PINK sparkle ponies into the fabric of the BM culture, as long as you keep them housed in your camp.

While my camp did not actually have a strict "NO PINK FUR CLOTHES" rule in place, I know that with my upbringing and the pressure of society influences, those types would never make it into my truck, tent or shade shelter. It wasn't because of color though....it's just, those people..... I am glad to see that they eventually found a welcome elsewhere. I fully support the complete inclusion of PINK sparkle ponies into the fabric of the BM culture, as long as you keep them housed in your camp.
