Hmm, which 3 guys would that be?Lonesomebri wrote:attention whoreI would have guessed 3 out of the 5 dudes had you not given it away by saying "she".Anyway, guess which person she is in the picture below?
None of the dudes were attention whores; believe me. The guy tipping the hat was just making a goofy pose. The guy farthest to the left is one of the nicest, funniest guys I've ever met; that's his wife hanging off of him. They have an 18 month son who they left at home with grandparents. Asian guy in the front is just a big goof ball. Not sure why I'm giving all this info

Yeah, I was never catty, just not as friendly toward her as I was with everybody else. Or maybe that's considered catty?Savannah wrote:
I wouldn't have been able to kiss-ass either, Littlebird. (Although I try not to give anyone the satisfaction of being catty, either.)
The other women were probably able to tolerate her better because they found it funny, or there was not a misunderstanding regarding a dude involved.
Now that I think of it, I was one of only two other single women in our 30+ person camp... that probably played into her disdain for me. The other single woman was in her late 40s, so perhaps miss sparkle pony didn't see her as a threat. She should have as far as I'm concerned; that woman was beautiful on both the inside and outside. Ok, no more sparkle pony bitching!

I've known people like that, for whom friendliness is not enough--fawning is required.littlebird wrote:Yeah, I was never catty, just not as friendly toward her as I was with everybody else. Or maybe that's considered catty?Savannah wrote:

If you fail to fall in line, you're challenging their whole self-image, and are thus very dangerous.
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner . . .Now that I think of it, I was one of only two other single women in our 30+ person camp... that probably played into her disdain for me. The other single woman was in her late 40s, so perhaps miss sparkle pony didn't see her as a threat.

Re: Does your theme camp embrace racial diversity?
WANTED:
- Seven to eight youthful, cleanly dressed, hipster-looking people to form "race-embracement food-commercial camp."
- Seeking prototypical "race" candidates for token-diversity roles. Fair-skin candidates given priority.
- Recognizable-yet-ambiguous racial appearance (e.g. pan-Asian appearance) for reduced casting will be given special consideration!
- Must be comfortable with, or rather indifferent to, different races or appearances.
- Specially sought-after candidates: Bushy-haired fair-skinned African American female (cell phone commercial experience a plus!), big-eyed-but-still-looks-oriental Asian female with brown hair, gothy-looking blonde female heavy eyeshadow but no tattoos, "Latin" looking male with slightly curly black hair, tall muscular African American man with glasses and with shaved or closely cropped hair (alternative: "smart guy" thin African American with glasses), a "nice guy" ordinary-college-dude Caucasian male with nice smile and light facial hair.
- All candidates must have perfect teeth.
- Positions are limited!

Yggy, I saw your picture with Asquared and you definitely are not a sparkle pony! You look like a cross between Chris Kristofferson and Sam Elliott.
As an aside, I've looked at that picture that I posted earlier with the eye of someone who doesn't know any of the people in it, and I came to the conclusion that we all look like douchebags; the sparkle pony just looks the douchiest.

Re: Does your theme camp embrace racial diversity?
It really is hard to judge a sparkle pony by their cover. Fancy-looking people are not automatically sparkle ponies at all, although sparkle ponies do have a tendency to lay it on thick . . . because they have to.
When sparkle ponies are aptly costumed, especially in the more commonly seen outfits, it's very easy to vengefully enjoy the stereotype.
The downside is that generous, self-reliant people who have always wanted to wear some crazy frivolous thing feel like they can't, and that's sad.
My solution: wear stupid shit if you wanna, no matter what.

Re: Does your theme camp embrace racial diversity?
Personally, I find a sparkle pony betrays themself by actions - not how they are dressed. Although I go out of my way to be mellow and welcoming at the burn, after several bad sparlkle pony encounters - I really lost my cool with a sparkle pony this year (she stalked off in tears).Savannah wrote:It really is hard to judge a sparkle pony by their cover. Somehow that does not bother me at all (she was likely just clinging on for my booze anyway - it's not like I look like sparkle pony bait anywway).
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Okay, I got a glimpse of Yggy in person, he's more like Chris Kristofferson AND Sam Elliot combined, if they worked out.littlebird wrote:Yggy, I saw your picture with Asquared and you definitely are not a sparkle pony! You look like a cross between Chris Kristofferson and Sam Elliott.

Guilty but in a different sort of way (as in "what's with the Simon Cowell thing?") Oddly I've been dressing that way since the 70's, it's comfortable for me. Besides it's my not so subtle, subtle statement (in both worlds). I always found it a bit humorous that BM is one of the few places we are covertly and sometimes overtly urged to conform to non-conformity (as ridiculous as the concept may be).Savannah wrote: My solution: wear stupid shit if you wanna, no matter what.
At times it can be difficult but we really are obligated to put, skin color, ethnicity, dress, and labels like spectator, frat boy, sparkle pony hippie, raver aside.
Not to is to deny human potential.
I appreciate the humor and the sense of community it provides but it can lead to a slippery slope of self-perpetuating misery.

While my camp did not actually have a strict "NO PINK FUR CLOTHES" rule in place, I know that with my upbringing and the pressure of society influences, those types would never make it into my truck, tent or shade shelter. It wasn't because of color though....it's just, those people..... I am glad to see that they eventually found a welcome elsewhere. I fully support the complete inclusion of PINK sparkle ponies into the fabric of the BM culture, as long as you keep them housed in your camp.

The question I have is, are pink-fur sparkleponies house-trained?

Ha ha... I was tempted to say you're special but then I remembered the few times I was called that involved a short yellow bus, my heart being irreparably broken and getting laid off from a firm I dedicated 22 years of my life to. Let's just say you're one of a kind (but that the world would be a much better place with more like you).Simon of the Playa wrote:speak for yourself....

True but if you're in hot pink fur with a big ass hat that reads "Super Bored" it's a red flag that the person might be a sparkle pony.
