Do we need architectural services for the new one, or does our insurance only cover replacement As It Was?

AHEM.

Don't forget that many of the structural and non-structural niceties we enjoy in this one were built in by the girls...

Morning Delle! How'd the festivities go yesterday?
Morning Grai, Trilo, Yggy the bushman and other lurkers!
Mikgus, glad to see you here! I believe your evenings attire was a.... towel! Which fit in perfectly well!!!
How did your run go that you mentioned you were going to thursday morning?

Trilo, would the other Bar threads still be accessable for viewing only....for old times sake?
I'm all for a yearly Bar thread! The Bar....2014!!!! New and IMPROVED with new and old faces alike!
So the theme this year is like a giant camp out in the desert? With people bringing lots of shit from all over? uh.. -Marscrumbs

Yes, the old ones would still be available. I'd want to do like we did with the Work In Progress thread too, where the last post in the old one linked to the new one, and the first post in the new one linked to the archive.

And of course the new bar would have to have all the favorite features of the old one, plus any new stuff we might want to dream up. Kind of like the way our camps go... next year we're gonna have hammocks! and that sort of thing.

If the new one looks remarkably similar to this one, that's fine by me.

Yes, naming the Bar by the year rather than the arbitrary volume number, should also attract more new victi patrons.

I was thinking about using 2014... I know it wouldn't be a calendar year matchup, but tie into the 2014 event season. What does everybody else think?

*strolls in, knocking dust off clothes*

This afternoon I drove down towards Middletown and picked up some tool storage drawers that were listed on Freecycle. It took time to dismantle them for moving, and the lady and I chatted. Turned out, she's been going to BM for a dozen years. There was Playa Dust in her garage. Small world! :D

Hiya gang!

Fishy is right, I remember The Bar exploding on several occasions. I'm alright with rebirth. "The Bar" (tisha's original incarnation) is very special to me personally and I'm really happy to have been a part of it. But there's so many new, fun people around in the new threads that I think it's ok to do it anew again and again. I mean... It's what we do every year... Build, burn, build again.

So it makes sense.

I have to vote against the yearly concept though. That seems to give it a sort of pigeon-hole effect to me. I like how it's sort of prone to blow up and be reborn at some non-predetermined time. Makes the time spent here feel more "in the moment" to me. Maybe that makes sense, I don't know.

And I reserve the right to change my mind on that too...

Cool story about your find and good conversation, Elliot.

In news around here...

I have an Apple Ale brewing for October and I met a burner today who moved here from Oakland. Fun!

good points made by the cat.......as usual!!
the random explosion is sort of neat!
I"m ok with whatever.
I do like the idea of some way, for searching archives, to have an order to "the bars".
But totally understand LCN's idea about the random "who knows when "some stupid with a flair gun" will burn the place to the ground.......

How's catworld, LCN? did you see Trilo's new pal?

There's a very dusty motorhome for sale that I see on my way to and from work... gotta wonder....

On another note, HI BAR FOLKS!! Golly, it's still warming my heart to have seen so many of you this year.
Maybe this leftover giftie of Godiva Vodka infused with Chocolate is helping a tad... tried it on Playa and didn't think much of it, but, now in tiny sips (lots of them) it's actually quite tasty!

*sets out tiny glasses and pours to share*

Cheers!!!!

ETA: Hi LCN and Yggy and all!
I like the idea of burning the bar down, especially if we don't lose all those great pictures!!! (and our post count)

*reaches out with needle-nose pliers and picks up a tiny glass of chocolate vodka. sips*

Ahhhh....

There seems to be a bit of a collection of fancy bottles here (with Dust on them), from thankful bicycle repair customers. I'll place them behind the bar and we can sip those also.

Ahhhh.... Vaguely reminds me of Martini Steve's fabulous chocolate martinis.
