I'm drinking in a room with like 100 cops right now. It's a peculiar event called a beefsteak in which you eat slices of steak dipped in butter an served atop slices of Italian bread. Of course you discard the bread an scoff the meat, but the bread is stacked rather intricately. The table with the tallest stack wins bragging rights. There's firemen and EMTs as well, but mostly cops.

Just thought I'd share.

Hot day working outside.
Need whiskey.

Port Light:
2 oz bourbon
1 oz lemon juice
0.5 oz passionfruit syrup
0.25 oz grenadine

<mixes a pitchers worth and tries to get 'orange blossom special' to play on the ABB>

If I mix ginger ale with my whiskey, I can call it a cure for an upset stomach, right?

Bleh. I hate being sick.

Any beer or whiskey served with this lavish feast???

And ORed, YES! Ginger in whiskey is medicine but ginger in GIN is what my grandmother used. 8)

Sadly, MDF, I'm allergic to Juniper (severely). I cannot drink the gin. Whiskey or Vodka are my choices...

Ginger ale also goes really well with spiced rum, if I remember correctly. So does cream soda, now that I think about it. I'm happy to stick with vodka myself, most of the time. No allergies, just a preference :D And tonight's lovely beverage, vodka and vicious chemicals. It's what's for dinner. Yum.

I'd go with bourbon, not sure I'd use it for a sick tummy, but it tastes good. grated ginger with honey in hot water... then bourbon?

*slides behind the bar*
DRINKS FOR EVERYONE!!!

My car started! To be fair I've been at this step multiple times and had to backtrack. But this is lucky number 7..... now for some tuning and see if it will go down the road.
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

Bourbon? Or rye?
Irish, if you've got it. Otherwise, bourbon.

Thanks, MDF. It's good to know I have all of you lovely friends when I'm under the weather.

Beer, wine, everything. It's an event unique to north Jersey and in particular, Passaic County.

Got its start in NYC, but went extinct there.

Beef, it is what's for breakfast. Dang, I'm hungry.

ORed, I hope you feel much better soon.

I like rum or vodka myself. Can't abide gin, and never took to any whisky/bourbon/rye and so on.

My understanding was proper shit involved chipped beef and not ground beef.

Good to see you UD! I haven't seen you around in awhile. Welcome back!

..and hello to the new faces here as well!

Really pleasant weather here, I wish I were outside, but, gotta pay the bills. More cleaning, sorting and storing of the things scheduled for the weekend.

G'morning, everybody! How were your sleeps?

Bleh. Still feeling crappy... Fuck. Well, I guess it's a good day to lurk on eplaya, right?

So, what's the weather like where your at? I am genuinely curious. I just moved from Oregon, where there are seasons (three, anyway), to the Los Angeles area, where it seems that there are not seasons. (I will be honest, it's kinda freaking me out.) Are leaves changing where you live?

I've had better sleeps, you? I woke up after 5 hours and spent the next 2 hours in bed with my eyes shut, ever hopeful.

I had to check a map to see how far south Van Nuys is, and indeed, it looks like an adjustment.

I'm still in the PNW. The leaves are turning and a few of them are on the ground, enough to put a layer or two the sidewalk, but not enough to pile up yet. Most leaves are still on the trees; plenty green but some turning to yellow.

The days are still pretty, but the heat wave is finally over. I wish it weren't.

There was rain this morning but it's cleared off. Tomorrow should be sunny and warm, and then it's probably gonna rain for a few days straight.

It sounds so beautiful, Savannah! I miss the chilly, clear mornings that occur when fall is approaching the PNW.

I just miss the PNW in general. I don't really fit in here...

Gorgeous day in Jersey. I treated myself to a lunch hour outside crocheting. We really have a lovely office park that I never take the time to enjoy.
