Being a crane truck operator for a living, things like picking up a bus roof would be pretty easy for me... and cutting the roof off would be a perfect opportunity to drop in the hot tub...

Must think about something else... must think about something else...

Capt, how about a soft sided hot tub? (softub)
They can fit through a doorway then you can remove it to use at home.
So the theme this year is like a giant camp out in the desert? With people bringing lots of shit from all over? uh.. -Marscrumbs

Resist, Captain, RESIST! I loved that bus and marveled at the genius of it all, but I seem to recall it being an insanely all-consuming project for lapeer20m back in the day. Unless you want your entire burn to be focused around being a maintenance and pool guy (among other things), I think there's got to be a better idea out there for you building a new MV and playing with the big tools... :)

Oh I can... a very nice fully articulated knuckle-boom with 50 foot reach and 23,000 pound lift... goddamm that Elliot... and you're not helping!!

No need for soft-sided tub, I'd prefer a real one. I can get it in there one way or another. If I ever end up with a 40 footer then a tub is in the plans, but Id really like a 27 - 30 footer because it fits so many more places. But that might not happen because I don't think I'd buy any bus that hasn't got an International DT466 motor and it seems hard to find that in a shorter bus.

I kinda want a tub at home and putting it in a bus would work great. If I ever do this, it's gonna be less public than Jason's was, although select friends will of course be invited!

The Land Yacht is already a pretty all-consumimg, high-maintenance thing; I'm all too familiar with that sort of commitment!
A lot of times, when everyone else is eating or sleeping, I'm out there changing tires or fixing a bad alternator or vacuuming that nice red velour couch or figuring out why the belts are squealing or fixing lights that aren't working or keeping the giant cooler full of ice or programming playlists for the sound system or... oh wait, this is fun, right?

What's this supposed difficulty in bringing a mere hot tub into a bus? Just roll it in!

try sitting between Elliot and Looneytunes:
Loonytunes has a 40' bluebird with a deck and bar with shade on the roof!
and Elliot right down the street with his sweet Millecent.

all I have is a water cannon.........

if you'd just join in, CAp'n, we'd all have the same tire size, so could share spares.........

Oh great, now Ygmir is on the devil's advocate team too...

They do make 8-lug to 10-lug adapters so you can put big-truck wheels on your one-ton duallie, and I've always wanted to do that.

I think I'll save money next year and sneak in across the open playa...

We might want to be careful about parking Millicent too close to Looneytoons' bad boy. Millicent is a lady, ya know.

My countdown was different from the government nonsense. Site maintenance is done, upgrade complete, and I even managed to restock the bar. Drinks all round!

Oooh. Patsh, a trailer ... do it! So cool! MyLarry lusts after bike trailers for his Harley. I just can't make the long rides anymore, back pinches and my leg goes numb.

All this bus talk makes me want to bust out a neglected project. I have a one inch scale model bus "dollhouse" I started and never finished. I should get on that over the winter, the figure out how to display it at camp. People would want to play with it, si it would need to be "under glass".

I was raised on cross-country drives when Dad was in the Navy and he changed coasts a few times. When I was a teen, my friend and I wanted to get a van and just trip across country. No thought of how we'd pay for it. But we were cute! She fell out of my life in 85, I was in the Navy and she was into the recreational life in LA. Miss her. And now I get my long drive fixes when I go on the truck with Larry. I can't drive, but I do love the road under my bum.

EVERY year I forget to bring my cheap night vision goggles. They are fun. I only think of it when I bike to the trash fence at night.
