I feel Burning Man is a White thing

This was my first year and got the overall impression that this must be an amazing event for white people. I gained courage to walk up to people and say hello, but not a one came up to me. I'm a generally friendly person and have no problems meeting people in my life/striking up conversations with strangers, but I felt totally out of place at Burning Man. I wish I was white. Oh well.

Second, to be honest, I think if you change the demographics of Burning Man, the spirit of BM will be lost forever.

There was no order in 1997 from what I saw on Spark A BM Story...it's different. I think overall whites are more incline to an "orderly" society.

Abkiwi hasn't said if they are black, only that they aren't a practicing white.
They might be french, israeli, asian, spanish, any of thousands of different native groups, and so on and on.
I would note that you can't actually prove there are white people. Been tried.

Ab, if I may call you that, you're not giving much information, but many people have felt isolated at the event, even people that have been before and
had a different experience.
There are all kinds of social barriers, real and created.
The massive growth has been an issue for years as so many new people attend every year.
And the people you meet can be very much a random event sort of thing.

I'm sorry if this isn't helpful, but sometimes being white, naked or female guarantees nothing there.
We all get different reactions from people at different times.
Sometimes I can only speculate on why.

To the OP: this has been discussed for years, and no-one knows why it's that way. This year was actually one of the most diverse I've seen, and I was happy to see that we may be reaching a point where we get past the "mainly white" stage. It may not seem very diverse yet, but keep telling friends and help change it for the better. Obviously we need it.

As for people walking up and saying "hi" - I don't get a ton of that either, and I've been going for years and am definitely on the pale side. I was told by a friend that even when I'm in BRC and out on the streets or on my way somewhere that I have a "don't bug me" face. I don't think I do, but generally I only get hello's or called to when someone likes something I'm wearing (unless they know me). YMMV.

Why is it always the people who spew hateful statements (in your case, dissing the entire planet who isn't "white") who run behind the "free speech" or "radical inclusion" banners? You are free to have your opinion, you are not free from being called out on it.

I stand by my opinion: your statement was racist bullshit, and was about as welcoming and inclusive to non-white people as a sign saying "whites only" on the gate. I would call you out loudly in person for saying something like that, I see no reason to let it pass here.
