There is hope for humanity after all!
On my morning walk, I was coming out of some woods and needed to cross a street. A red sedan was approaching, so I planted my feet well apart and crossed my arms – my standard pose to indicate I am happily and patiently awaiting my turn to cross the street – not a hazard to motorists.
The red sedan stopped. About 20 or 30 courteous feet from me. And I saw the driver’s hand waving me across.
This has not happened since last time I was in Norway. There, a pedestrian intending to cross a street constitutes a Stop Sign for motorists. Here, if I try that as a motorist, I get rear-ended.
Interesting that this should happen just days after I made the epiphanistic (

) decision to accept the World as it is. I may have to start a new religion.
