Not my damn holiday, don't miss "celebrating" it. I have an official No "Required" Gifts policy all year round (ie: birthday, anniversary, housewarming, baby-shower) and it goes double for shopmas. It's not a gift when it's expected, and I don't want them, won't give them.

I agree about shopmas.
Time was when the only gift was a visit to family or freinds, planned or unplanned. Compay and freinds was all that was wished for.

TPBM wishes the spooky holiday would also return to the time before expected handouts.

I don't know if a bunch of Celts carrying around carved turnips is my thing either. (Or that that turnip thing is real, although i do like it.)
TPBM just wants all the holidays to be maximally syncretized.

No, best part about holidays in my opinion is paid days off. (till this recent job that i work no matter what day it is) if they were all sync'd that wouldn't happen as much.

TPBM sees patterns in everything.

Oh heck no. I don't eat anything remotely that flavorful. I'm a super taster with a texture aversion. I eat the blandest things imaginable and treasure the rich flavors they provide. I'm one of the few people who enjoys the actual unadulterated taste of beef, for example.

TPBM loves spicy food.

Nope ... I can't handle spicy food. However my 2 closest friends are from cultures that seem to think that if your tongue doesn't feel like it's burning off, then you need to add more spice. Their version of 'not spicy' is enough to leave me sweating, and in tears. I always suffer when I eat at their places.

I read history - I'm more than happy to live with our current levels of sanitation & medicine, and don't need to mythologize a non-existent version of the past. Visiting might be nice, but I'd have to figure a way to block the odours...

Never had enough to proximity to develop a dislike. Dickens Faire is another matter.
TPBM hates the spelling "faire" (and the spelling faerie, for that matter.) Perhaps tpbm even hates unexpected diphthongs and triphthongs. Definitely hates the spellings thereof.

Extra letters make me twitchy, and I find that the people who are the worst offenders in using them are also the people who strain my ability to be kind/generous or at least tolerant of beliefs I find silly. I had a girlfriend at one point who (along with her gaggle of like minded friends) who was really bad about it, and so now, if you add unneeded letters, I'm judging you. Sorry.

TPBM is already making up lists and projects plans for next year.

(ok, seriously, my autocorrect keeps turning "lists" into "lusts"...)

Not a lack of trust exactly, but I'm cautious around them after seeing one particular intro to an episode of Six Feet Under.

I don't give a shit about football, but bullying isn't just about physical stuff, verbal bullying is still bullying. And fuck, from what little I know, the coaches pass out verbal abuse like it's candy on Hallowe'en. (To use a timely metaphor.)
TPBM doesn't care about football, basketball, baseball or hockey, but finds stories about bullying chilling. (Not "chill".)

I started to write a novel. Let's just whittle it down to: seeing the after-affects of childhood bullying, and losing friends to it; and having too many friends "bashed", which is just another form of it, means that "chilling" isn't nearly descriptive enough for my feelings on it.
