Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
Hadn't gotten a notification since last Tuesday. Hi all and welcome Karilese and other lurkers. Just back from a couple of sets of tennis and ready for a nap. Elorrum's bar is home, but the Ygmir Nordic touch looks great for a romantic evening, so I say we want it too! YROR (YG's Romantic Other Room) Great spot for the NEB.
Have a great week, all

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
Morning all! *does the coffee time dance**
This morning, in between work calls, I think I am on a mission to find a cat sized Santa Claus hat. I am trying to avoid making one even though it would be easy. My Siamese is going to be the star/victim of our holiday cards this year (because he's the only cat tolerant enough to try this with). And then further holiday gift making supply hunting-my niece and nephew are getting stuffed animals from me this year, so I am working on collecting fabric and such for that.

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
Good morning, everybody! The road trip and meetup sounds like a lot of fun, MDF!
Yes, Marty, there is currently an issue with ePlaya notifications. Elliot raised the flag on it on Friday, I'm looking into it. Elliot, any issues you're having with receiving JRS (or other Burning Man email addresses) would likely be separate from ePlaya notification, since they're coming from different places. For what it's worth, I show as having received V18 Issue #6 on 10/31/13. I have no idea where I am in that message queue (it can sometimes take days for the email to send to the whole list). JRS archives can be found here.
I was busy for much of the weekend, but a lot of that was research and fixing tech issues and testing things instead of making stuff. It was also weird customer issue weekend in our virtual shoppe, I got requests for anything ranging from the usual "I know you don't do custom orders, but will you do a custom order" conversations to requests to buy real life versions of our in-game clothing designs, to last night some really annoying woman who first wanted us to tell her where we buy components used in some of our outfits (for her friend who also sells clothing in SL), and when I explained that we create our own original content she asked me to sell components to her.... I replied politely to decline her offer but seriously, wtf...
The virtual clothing market is already cluttered up with bottom-feeders who are just re-packaging other peoples' creations, why in the world would I want to add more to it?
Speaking of virtual worlds, it's going to be a busy week for me there. I missed or had to reschedule a couple meetings last week, have a couple other projects I want to push along, plus a bunch of shopkeeper stuff and it's time to clean up after Burn2. Leave no virtual trace
We had a good run this year, even though we got really horrible placement and were kind of hard for random explorers to find, we had a few thousand people visit and grab one of our gifts throughout the event. Just like with the RL (real life) Burning Man event, I wish I had more time to explore and see cool stuff other people had built.
Now where's my caffeine boost?

Simon of the Playa, why resist? You think I don't know how my normal levels of perky are received? It's not like I don't already get large amounts of shit about it in real life, or that I don't freely mock myself anyway. I just sadly fail at trolling/curmudgeon so this is how I am. I'm a big girl, I accept the consequences/mocking. I figure it's still Bette than the whiny hot mess I was in my younger days.

If that's not your style, Fishy, she's also selling a paper chalice for $2,200.

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
I've clearly made a poor choice in my line of work. Time to consider a career in paper coiling. Assuming she took 20 hours to make that thing, she's still paying herself $20/hour. How long do you suppose it would stand up to use as a typical purse (especially in say a Seattle winter)?
I'm not even going to look at this paper chalice thing. I suspect it would make me twitch a little.

If only Regretsy hadn't shut down. Some of these listings would fit right in.

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
No, I seriously meant a purse tribute to the look of an accordion. That one is a little too fussy, and a little not accordion-like enough for me, but I think it would be cool if done right.

Okay, as a ring it sucks. I don't understand the current rage for large rings like that. But the winking doll eye as fashion? OMG, love it...
Dick might, too.

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
That really could be damn cool done right, though I totally would want a little accordion pleated section for expanded space/capacity (I'm one if those people who carries around way too much crap in the name of being prepared, though. Because I totally might need a bottle opener or my spare set of jewelry pliers when I'm out and about.). I sadly can't look at the one you posted-my phone is choking on the URL and my agency is really strict on computer use.
Ring: I'm both creeped out and fascinated. I agree, it's too big for a ring. As earrings, perhaps? Barrettes?
