Pin? pendant? it could be so much. Fridge magnet.
And I get away with carrying a lot in a tote hanging from a handle. So, $$, cards, change, and less important cards (library, "loyalty cards", usw.)

Although, pliers, jewelry or not, are almost a necessity.

I just need to train myself to switch what side I'm carrying it on-last time I weighed my bag it was like 12-13 pounds, and I have a bad habit of just slinging it over my right shoulder and I'm starting to feel it in my shoulder and back all the time.

I hope you know, you have inspired me to make a creepy blinky eye fridge magnet now . It's going on the big board of household stuff that needs to be done so lazy housemate feels like he's being watched when he opens the fridge.

I think it would be a wonderful thing for a Mom to have as a barette. You know how most moms tell their little ones that they sometimes have eyes in the back of their heads when the little ones step over the line.....

It would have scared the shit out of me as a 3 year old and made me walk the straight and narrow real quick.

Hey Tatonka!! where is that place and the scenery?
Dang AntiM! yeah I bet the repair bills on those big trucks is a chunk!!

Dang, it was about 40 mph winds all day up at the Hof yesterday, and about 40 deg. maybe a little less, the ice was not melting........I must be getting old and soft, but, working out in that, just beat the crap out of me!! felt like I split wood or shoveled all day!! And all I was doing was mixing mud and laying brick.
Well back up again today, and maybe...maybe finish tomorrow.

Monday started off like such a nice day. It was even productive for a little while there, I felt like I was getting some stuff done. But no, Monday was having none of that. By mid-afternoon things had gotten a little crazy. Then right as my girlfriend got home we had another plumbing adventure in the kitchen. We weren't using any water, but suddenly the sink started filling up and then water started spurting out onto the floor from behind the washing machine...again. Ugh. Even worse, this time the water was filthy and smelly. Fortunately not human waste smelly, but like stinky pond/storm drain smelly. For fuck's sakes. We called the building management company and the 24 hour emergency number for the maintenance guy, but nothing was getting done fast. The guy complained that it would take him 2 hours to get out there, but he didn't sound motivated. We got berms set up and she got to mopping while I got to bailing out the sink. We got things under control just in time for another round...wtf. Fast forward through all the minutiae, in the end they dialed up an all-night plumber to take apart some stuff and do the crazy power snakey drainy thing, and things didn't return to our normal level of crazy til just shy of midnight.

Here's hoping for a better Tuesday!

Thanks. Fortunately it's sorted out. Our neighbors weren't doing anything wrong (and everyone in the building seems pretty great so far), from my conversation with the plumber last night it sounds like the maintenance guy only did a so-so job of snaking the drain when he fixed things last time. The plumber brought in the big power-snakey dude on a dolly, and it wouldn't surprise me if it had turned out he snaked that line all the way into the bay.

Sitting by the snake in the bay.... that's a catchy tune.

I think Rainbows have "elders" who set up community kitchens? Run on barter? And isn't there a booze ghetto?

*staggers in*
dang I need drinks and ibuprofen/naproxen sodium...........

I think I pulled or strained every muscle in my poor little old body today:
But man, nothing like feeling alive, standing 22' up on one ladder, foot braced on another ladder tied to a bolt, laying on the Hof roor and wedged against a piece of chimney pipe, trying to lift, lever, and set a 10' 80 or so pound piece of reinforced chimney pipe you made, with a "twirly vacuum vent thing" on the end, at chest height, and only able to hold the bottom couple of feet, so trying to balance the rest while the gentle breezes of autumn waft by and change the balance from moment to moment..........hahaaha (maniacal laugh).

damn took me about 10 tries, luckily as it'd get too high, or over balance and I'd not have the strength to hold it, I'd be able to lower it and catch a step on the mail ladder, to stop the fall......rest, and hoist it again. Finally, it having tipped back and (luckily) fallen against the roof, I tried to balance and "walk" it upright above the receiving pipe, trying to hold the bottom from kicking out, and raise that 8 or so feet above me.........dang leverage, when it works against you! a mere 80 or so lbs. total, but, hanging out that far, I could barely raise it.......legs shaking, gasping for air, I couldn't stop half way........of course, my hair caught in a seam at about half way, and not being able to stop, tore a handfull of my locks, which are probably still hanging up there, out by the roots!! What fun!
Then, of course and it achieves "balance", me holding the bottom (that I could reach), the breeze kicks up and I'm trying to balance this hellish metallic "smoke wand", standing on two separate ladders, Looney tunes alternately laughing and screaming in horror, all the while taking a photo journal, in case I don't survive. hahaa. He was snapping photos and telling which way to lean, with his foot at times against the tall ladder since I was above the fulcrum point where it touched the roof, and if it kicked out it'd be a bummer.

But, happy to report, it did fall in, just as designed, stopping at the hoped for and designed depth!! yay!
Then of course, we look up and realize the twirly thing got bent, and was not spinning......darn!!
so, with an 8' 2x4 I poked and prodded at it to bend it back so it'd start to spin again......after several tries, Success!! yay!
so, tightened the clamps I made, and we built a fire to see if it now drafts correctly............I does!! worked very good, and with the better draft, we were able to get the oven to 350 degrees, on just scrap wood, fir and pine.....not even oak.
Yay that!!!
Not a super windy day though, so, we'll try again tomorrow to see if it backdrafts....but my feeling is IPBA.

haah and by the time I got down off the ladder, both legs were shaking uncontrollably from fatigue.
and, as I was raising, straining for all I was worth, I could feel my traps, deltoids and event lats, tearing it seemed.......I can't wait for tomorrow........hahha, too tired to be very sore now.

Looks like we forgot the camera up there, so, as long as it's not lost, I should have some funny photos (according to Looney Tune) of my contorting, straining and failing, in multiple attempts to raise this monster. hahahaa

Sorry to put you through that Ygmir.

I was thinking the other day about the superstition about walking under a ladder being unlucky.

Silly superstition of course.........UNLESS YGMIR IS UP THERE WITH SOME GIANT EQUIPMENT IN HIS HANDS!!!

This was the very thought that I was chuckling about the other day when I thought of it.

*borrows Galactic binoculars from Zaphod B., immediately sees Ygmir's camera dangling from the whirlygig he made, now 28 feet in the air*

No worries Ygmir! I can tell you where the camera is.

All very ho-hum.

When I was building my barn (25 feet at peak), one day I was assembling the scaffolding, four or five levels up, lifting a scaffold frame over my head, something like Ygmir's up-side-down sewer pipe. I lost it and simply let it drop it to the ground, rather than endanger myself. Just an annoyance. A neighbor came running, scaled the fence, and calmly assisted me til the scaffold was complete. Didn't say much. He probably figured he saved my life from myself.

Wow, Yggy and LooneyTunes... can't wait to see the pics! I wish I could have been there to help, if only to take pics while Looney Tunes helped with the real work!
Glad the draught is working better now on the stove!!
Still looking at the possibility of getting there for a Hof Party, and the probability of an AMTRAKathon in January. It's getting a tad late for the Hof, what with weather and such... but, you know me... 15 hours drive each way has proven to be well worth it, each time!! And, rain, wind, snow.. bring it on! (One of the very cool things about AZ is how very fast and thoroughly things dry here, once I get home...)
Best of luck finishing up the Hof-patching... when it's done, it'll be just about Perfect!

Meanwhile, looks like MDF has arrived safely at my sister's house, and, knowing that Delle, they're having an absolute blast right now!! *so envious* I wish I could be there too! Delle comes up with some of the very coolest of shit to burn! (did you see last year's Queen Elizabeth? She was priceless!!) I sure hope they'll have pics like from Bobbin's place!

What'sit, Tuesday? Happy Tuesday evening to all... and a very good night!

Yeah, I hope the camera shows up and the photos are as funny as he said they looked! I wonder in my chunk of hair is still up there....hahaaaa, some bird will probably make a nest of it.

well, back up today, and hopefully finish tomorrow....hoping........then, if weather holds and if there was enough interest in a very chilly Hof party (it's in the upper 20's I'm guessing at night there).
Of course there's tons of wood for a bonfire and fire in side......
