Re: Playa Dreams & Nightmares
I had an odd dream/nightmare last night. Details are sketchy but I remember standing in line to meet Simon and it was taking forever. Like all week.. I remember my friends coming up to me while in line and bringing me food, water, and monster energy drinks to keep me awake for the week. I ended up missing the man and temple burn and when I finally got to the front of the line, I was ushered in by Mary and Savannah wearing long flowing robes. Like I was meeting the pope or something. When I got inside the lavish tent, there was only a cardboard cutout of Simon and some dude with a Polaroid camera taking pictures. I got my pic taken with cardboard Simon and ran out screaming like a teen girl at a Justin Beiber concert. That's when I woke up and realized that I had to go to work and there was no picture of me with Simon to prove anything.

Re: Playa Dreams & Nightmares
Oh man, just a couple of days ago I saw this thread and realized, shocked, that I hadn't dreamt of the playa in weeks. I'd been having near nightly dreams even as recently as a month ago and they were one of the best parts of falling asleep. Last night, though, I had my very first BM nightmare.
My camp mates and I were frantically trying to get out of Los Angeles shocked to realize that it was somehow Wednesday of burn week. It was dusk and traffic was hell and no one seemed to know why we were so late. Nothing was ready. My favorite outfit wasn't mended, in fact it wasn't even packed. I don't think our shade structure was updated, the project wasn't finished, and I don't think we had any beer or other critical supplies either. It was fucking awful. I woke up partway through it, drenched in sweat.
I went back to sleep and dreamt of the burn itself. Well, it was supposed to be the burn. There were weird rocky outcroppings between the camps and way fewer people. I think it was supposed to be the edge of the city. Everything was cold and awful and I still didn't have my fur vest. Fucking awful nightmare. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go prepare some...

I had one last night where I had met a guy with a 40' pyramid covered in silver duct tape. The door pulled back like a tent. The inside had lofts, and the floor had a marginal sound system on particle board folding tables. I often have long detailed dreams about architecture.

My Burning Man dream last night...
I dreamed that I was driving the last leg to the gate, and on either side of the road were bogs full of rotting plant matter. A friend in my vehicle asked to stop so she could harvest the cheese off of one of the cheese plants. After tasting it, she said it was a little passed its prime. As if that weren't weird enough, when we got Greeters it was a hotel which charged a mandatory $4.25 for a bed, with loong lines of people standing at the concierge desk. I had to ask if my partner and I could share a bed, since we didn't need two, and the concierge said, "DO YOUR HOMEWORK," then pointed me to a desk which was labeled "HOMEWORK." There were pieces of paper lined out on the desk with the following instructions:
"Remove tab and cut and fold along directional lines. Place your origami swan on your chest when you sleep to ward off bad spirits."
And that's where it ended. Why?!!!

After months of thinking about and planning for 2014, this is the first BM related dream I have had.

Re: My Burning Man dream last night...
Thats pretty crazy. In all of my burningman dreams I am either woefully under prepared, or I arrive the week after.
In one dream, the entire event was held on some sort of elevated platform (think tree houses with walkways between them).

Treehouses? That sounds amazing! Reminds me of a certain Firefly episode with giant self-sustainable estates hovering over oceans. Much better than plant cheese and hotel beds.

My BM dream was that all city streets were lined with white picket fences as far as the eye can see. It looked pretty cool.
then everybody started doing art on them.

I have no clue what plant cheese is. It seemed totally ordinary in dreamland.

That sounds like it would be fun to replicate on the playa! Maybe on a smaller scale... Set up some fencing and encourage passers by to join you in decorating it. I'd stop by!fernley1 wrote:My BM dream was that all city streets were lined with white picket fences as far as the eye can see. It looked pretty cool.

Cardboard Standees are a bitch to fly with and $$$ to mail or I would make one of Simon, no problem; I would want a photo with that for myself.

maybe we can get one like kilroy, and just hang it on walls and fences, just a head peaking over.

Re: My Burning Man dream last night...
Ugh, I had one of the longest Burning Man dreams I have had in ages.
Hushville was at 5 and L, not 5 and E. Larry and the others had done all the packing, I'd been too sick or absent. They forgot my trike, we didn't have the rhoadescar, the carports weren't set up, we were in some sort of purple scarf thing built on EZ-ups. "We can sleep in the dust, it is okay". I told Larry I had only half a box of art, so why even set up the Home? I also told him I had no memory of Gate or Greeter's, did I sleep that much?
I had one pair of bad shoes, no water bottle, and had to borrow a dust scarf and hat from a nice young lady with short blond hair. I was going to try to find Elliot's camp to borrow a bike. I did dream about Millicent! Someone offered me a ride, and we got to the plaza, but I ended up in a "The Night Before Christmas" theme camp art installation ... back in a building, with the knobs to the doors breaking off in my hands.

Re: My Burning Man dream last night...
This morning I had another Burning Man Dream...
I hooked 7 of my girlfriends chickens to the small-scale dog sled (with wheels) as my art car. Darn chickens snuck off in a dust storm and swiped the flag from First Camp.
They did a good job of getting around the playa though.
In retrospect, this is the first disaster dream that I actually had a camp stay on the playa. so, I guess it turned out ok...

Re: My Burning Man dream last night...
I have a recurring Burning Man dream. I'm in a suburb with ranch houses, trees and lawns. From there is a tunnel into Burning Man on the playa. It is very dense and much smaller without wide streets. I wander around trying to find camps. Sometimes there is a large barn-like building for live musical events on one edge. But I never see beyond the edge of BRC where the camps end, like the Wayward Pines series.
