Now you wait for the sun. There should be a day or two in July.

I kept feeling stuff hitting me, and stinging pretty good, but as with so many things I do, stuff hurts but don't stop what you're doing until done. And anyway, what could go wrong? I was wearing glasses, for safety!
Ha, so one hit my forearm and felt like a bee sting, so I looked:
There, was an inch of wire sticking out of my forearm, like a squiggly little arrow! haha, and, several little red spots from other "hits".so, I look down at my belly (large target) where I had been feeling stuff hit! Well, I threw that wheel away. dang.

HI gang!
glad you avoided the worst of the winds AntiM!!
Hi cap'n!!

well on the way in to the Hof, things look bleak. above 5k ft. el. I encountered about 20 blown down, healthy fir and pine trees, several well over 100' tall. the parts across the road had been cut out, so people could pass.........but that speaks for some dang high winds over the last few days!! even over winter, only 3 or 4 usually fall/break.
Shame to see all that beautiful wood and lumber laying around.
Anyway, it made me nervous, seeing how high the winds must have been.
But upon arrival, my chimney seems unscathed! yay!
I"m sure the reports of 90 mph.+ were accurate, judging by the stuff laying around. But no problems with the Hof. or chimney thereon!
even the spinny thing ont top is still working!!

So, got the vermin shield put up and winterized as I could. Great day!! finding my guesswork on the chimney worked out!!
built a nice fire in the stove, wamed the place right up and we cooked polish sausage on the griddle/top.
put in a metal latchable cabinet to keep any mice out, and stocked it with first aid supplies, some food and drink (whiskey and spam), and other stuff.

dang this getting old stuff though!! 20 trips up and down that ladder, and a little screwing of mouse shield materials, and I'm beat!!

well, Fishy, this is an hour from the nearest town, deep forest, no "neighbors" as such. and, I'm guessing someone will make use of it. It's a healthy forest in that area, had a nice "low wild fire" go through there about 7 years ago, and it really made it nice. There's lots of duff and such for nutrients. It's interesting to see one tree fall, amidst hundreds and why. Just weak roots I guess, most didn't snap off, but went roots and all. They also fall slower that way and tend to not break up when they hit.

Well that's America for you... I needed new batteries for my keychain light. New batteries were $9.49. A whole new identical light with the same Energizer lithium batteries was $9.29.

Marketing Psychology 101. Sell the device cheap to get tons of customers hooked, then nail them over and over and over on the refills because they hate to discard the perfectly good device that they bought for good reason.

Elliot, good advice on your Bicycle tip # 113... I know how frustrating it is for you to keep getting 'repair' jobs on true junkers!

Man, this place is lagging in activity... where is everyone? What, do they actually have a life???
Me, I'm just enjoying my new 'Semi-retirement' to the MAX. Getting alot done around the house, like tons of organizing paperwork and other crap. I never thought I'd be 'here' before the age of 95 or so, and I'm only in my 60s!!!
Spring will bring the Yard Sale From Hell, and you'd better believe it, there will be some COOL Shit!!
I'll get into the swing of things in early spring, helping TinyMystic with her very own Yard Sale From Hell, then, on to my own farther North.
Dang, I'll probably come home with a carload from hers... WAY Dang!! (I know how I am, dang it!) At least now, I have a storage shed, brand new!!

I hope we're all having a good enough time these days (if not a Better Than Ever Time), and so glad your chimney survived the winds, Yggy (not the least surprised about that) and ever so sorry to have to miss the AMTRAKathon this time. Fooey.

Meanwhile, I lift my glass to all my wonderful and dear friends, wishing all a very good week. Cheers!!  :D

Nice fire, Yggy, thanks! Hooray for chimneys and spinny things.

Look for those pesky little watch batteries online, Captain Goddammit, you can often get a whole card for less than the cost of a single battery at retail.

It's the off-season doldrums, Patsh. Things will pick up when the art theme gets announced, and when ticket info is posted. Personally, I was away for a couple days there, didn't travel but was away from the computer for the most part, and for a lot of the time before then (and since I've been back) doing a lot of research and testing (or geekery, if you will). I'm working on models for next year's playa projects too, and when I get the chance I want to roll the various annual/superthreads all over for the 2014 season (like we did with the bar). I wanted to do that a little while ago, but haven't quite gotten the chance.

Wine glasses... tequila pickle backs... I'm sticking with my vodka and vicious chemicals.
