well, if saying "deliver Ohio's electorial votes" means to you... "i am going to do something illegal to ensure the re-election" then you have a healthy imagination. let me introduce you to another conspiracy propagator, DVD.Alpha wrote:No no no Joel. Kelly insinuated that the reason Diebold didn't put in a paper trail is because it would interfere with their sinister plans to hijack the election in favor of Bush. You said that was a baseless accusation. I proved that it was, in fact, NOT a baseless accusation because the very CEO of Diebold promised to "deliver Ohio's electoral votes" in favor of Bush. It's an obvious conflict of interest and get real -- would you vote on a machine that Michael Moore created, that left no paper trail?

I voted via absentee ballot... but judging by the results I am hearing right now it's looking like I voted in the minority. 4 more years of lies, deception, and those idiots waving their checks and saying, "but I got a tax break, didn't I?" So what if my country is in debt.
But at least I can rest assured knowing that my UPS driver has an MA in some sort of technological science. But does it make him a better driver? He says, "Yes." At least it's a clean air vehicle. That's saying something.

I hardly think so, but why not answer my second question? If Michael Moore (or George Soros) created a voting machine that had no way to perform a reliable recount, would you use it?Simply Joel wrote:well, if saying "deliver Ohio's electorial votes" means to you... The only conspiracy was Ohio voters getting the not-so-alien anal probe, but at this point I support an assasination plot.Alpha wrote:Oh and Jeb Bush promised to "deliver Florida" to GW in 2000, the exact same verbage O'Dell used. So don't you talk to me about overactive imagination.
Ohio's 2 main Voter Issues:
- Employment (i.e. Economy)
- Mid-Western Morals
King George got him with the rural vote, Kerry's job loss arguments only had a substantial effect in a few counties that suffered an over ammount of unemployment. Idiots really, there were more than enough unemployed numbers to offset the difference. WTF happened with that?

if that were my only choice, yes, i would vote... yet the comparison isn't quite realistic... one is a well respected executive in the community with political ties and one is Michael Moore. Yet, I am sure you see the world differently than i do.Alpha wrote:I hardly think so, but why not answer my second question? Agreed, Michael Moore != Diebold's O'Dell. Soros is closer, though.. anyway it's a moot point because Diebold machines were NOT used heavily (at all??) this year. Still I stand by the principle: voting machines MUST create an auditable paper trail.
I guess I'll head off to the Fuck thread, though even that doesn't really capture to sense of gloom that I feel. #3 on my sob list is the environment -- can we handle another 4 years of environmental rape? #2 is the war on terror -- will GW succeed in making the ENTIRE globe detest us? And #1 is the Supreme Court -- with 3-4 justices sure to retire in the next 4 years, GW's legacy will prevail upon domestic issues for 20 years to come. I can see Patriot Act 3 now -- tattooing serial numbers on the arms of anyone suspected of anything they care to conjure up, perhaps?

Hey Alpha, i will stand side by side with you on that issue... for similar as well as additional different reasons.Alpha wrote:... anyway it's a moot point because Diebold machines were NOT used heavily (at all??) this year. I really liked the new machines we have in Sacramento County, we got rid of the hole punching, chad creating fossils. We now have a scantron, fill in the bubble and feed it as you leave to count your vote.
Although, the scantron did cause me to have a highschool flashback and I kept whispering to the lady next to me "What did you put for number 5"?

I am a bit tied up at the moment...but if you leave your name and number.....

From what I heard on the street, at one of the Berkeley polling places the Diebolds went down somehow. I did the paper too for pretty much the same reason.KellY wrote:Voted in Oakland, Californ-aye-ai with a paper ballot, instead of those damn deibold things. I wouldn't have minded using a computer if there was any kind of reciept or paper trail, but I think Diebold felt that would interfere with the GOP winning...

I did appreciate a nice meander by all the booteeks and the library on my way home from the firehouse, not to mention the latte that kept my misery level down as I stood in line for an hour. Abbreiviated hours and manditory timeoff to vote would be a good thing.
If you give people a day off, many of them will leave town. Some would take Monday off and turn it into a 3-day weekend. Also, it's not as if nobody works on a national holiday.

INdeed. Hackers? Those machines probably sit in a wearhouse for months and years between uses. A big chance for mischeif.Alpha wrote:Agreed, Michael Moore != Diebold's O'Dell. As I have stated elsewhere... Imagine this:
When W is gone, which Bush will be in line to follow? Think about it. The Dynasty is going to be with us for a long long time. Talk about messed up. They will figure out some dirty rotton way to put another Bush in there the next time around. Oh, unless they change the constitution, then we can look forward to Ahnold.
lol~! An actual son of the SS in our Whitehouse. Imagine the 'cartwheels in their caskets' our forefathers will be doing then.
