I wonder why your ears are burning, too, Goathead! My palms were itching last week, but, I did not receive any money. :|

Thanks for the photo, Elorrum; it's like a message from another world. 8)

I have had as much :coffee: as is good for me; time to head out on some errands. Gosh. Miss you all!

*strolls in, starts ECM*

yeah FJ, I knew the Baldur legend of misletoe......interesting parallels with Jeebus in Baldur, though Baldur predates Jeebus.

We've got 4 suites reserved on the same floor now at the Sands for the Amtrakathon.....should be fun!

gonna cut a bunch of drill steel into fence posts today, finally getting to the fence around the pioneer Jewish cemetery here, well, a parking barrier actually. low, with cable just to keep cars out. If you can believe it, people were working on their cars, changing oil, and dumping their crap in the cemetery!! I'm trying to make the barrier look old, and mining like, so it sorta matches the era of the cemetery (gold rush)

HI gang!
ah, well if you ask for photos, I'll always do my best to comply!
I took these for the customer, who has voiced concern I'll not make the parking barrier strong enough:
DSCN0036.jpg
Looneytunes welding the cable hold tabs:
DSCN0035.jpg
1/4" tire chain links, welded to the edge. Cable will be fed through, and each tab bent just below the pipe surface, so as to kink and put a strain on the cable there, locking it in place, and not allowing for sharp edges and such on top.
note the 3/8-1/2 inch wall thickness of the drill steel.....yeah, I think it'll be strong enough, with 2' in the ground, and 3 ' sticking out.

Nice work, Yggy! I've been busy as hell this week, lots of projects wrapping up or coming to a boil... fortunately not boiling over! And today I had plumbers in for half the day.... A while back we had some flooding, and the building maintenance guy had rescue rooter out to run some kind of industrial strength snake down one of the lines. That covered us, but the building management wanted to have someone come in at some point and inspect the whole thing, and do whatever they needed to do to make sure it didn't happen again. Hooray for that, but.. yeah, half a day. I also had a bunch of general purpose housecleaning to do, then I wanted to get some work done on my workspace. Taking the desk apart and reconfiguring it, then moving a bit of furniture and rearranging and rewiring stuff... it still needs work, but I like where it's headed. It's time to knock off for the night though, I'll dive back into it in the morning.

Thanks Trilo! simple stuff, but hopefully effective.

dang those plumbing problems........I've plumbed all my own houses and tend to oversize it all, but, well, hardly ever have issues, either.

Luckily there weren't any problems this time. The building people were just following up and being diligent, instead of waiting for something to back up again. My part was pretty easy, just letting people in and walking them through the problem, showing them where things were at, or getting things out of the way. The kitten was the one put out the most, she got put in the gulag (bathroom) for the duration. She made do, napping on a nice minky fur playa coat for hours on end :)

Yggy, where is the old cemetery. I spend lots of time camping around Nevada city in the summer. Love the area and the local history.

Hey there fernley1.
the cemetery is on 2nd st. in Grass Valley.
If you spend a lot of time in this area, and like old cemeteries, we have about 25, mostly old mining camp and settlement ones. There may be a map, not sure, but I know where they are.
Feel free to drop in, too, if you're down this way!! I'm only about 15 mins. off I80 at Colfax. or about 10 mins from Nevada City.
Having grown up here, I'd be happy to let you know about nice camping areas, gold prospecting, fishing, whatever.
And of course the Hof, when the snow melts back in the spring.

Thanks Yggy. I spend a lot of time camping at Harmony ridge resort, about 5 miles up hwy 20.
We do like to spend time on Yuba river, around Edwards crossing and down at Bridgeport covered bridge, panning for gold.
I love the North Star and Empire mine museums in grass valley.
What is the HOF? I have seen pictures you posted, looks beautiful.

ha! I used to hunt that area as a kid. Harmony ridge and all around.

I can guide you to lots of other river access and probably better panning..........
My dad worked in the Empire mine.

The Hof is a place I've been building for years, and we try to have at least one eplaya party there each summer!
it's at Bowman lake.

Loved seeing the pics, Patsh. Nostalgic for another weekend at the Hof. That was so much fun. Yg is so right that we are all close and care. MDF, I'll try to take some pics of my pottery this weekend and see if I am nimble enough to post them here next week. Holy smokes, here it is Hump Dayend. About two weeks ago, my grandson called me from New Orleans to ask if we could make some pottery together when he is here on holiday vacation. What a treat!!! We will work together on Monday for sure. Nice to know you're wanted and needed. My tennis buddies and I will be having a Yule Tide lunch, fittingly, at a local Jewish deli on Saturday. Bring on the Yule Log Matzo Balls!

Piney's fire spinning at the Hof was really mesmerizing. It seemed to me, as we all sat around the fire that evening we were all in a very large room defined by the surrounding dark of the night. Very special indeed! Hated to turn in that night. Maybe you can make it next year, Fernly.

Work, slow to stop about now, and expect it to be that way until January, so taking time to play tennis, make pots and be laid back.

Hugs to all

Better late than never on those pics, and great stuff Patsh.

Woohoo for end of day Wednesday. It's proving to be a hard fought week! I managed to wrangle some parts and pieces on that desk (it's a modular Ikea thing), and have it in the perfect setup for my needs. All my wiring and setup is still temporary though, once I get a new computer I'll go through the process of getting everything wired and rigged for awesomeness. I want a space that not only suits my needs, but "feels right" and is comfortable (for work, being creative, etc). I'm really happy that everything seems to be clicking into place there.

Woohoo for holiday breaks, Marty! Pandorra's got another day before her holiday break, things have been crazy for her lately so we're looking forward to her having the time to unwind and kick back.
