We do summer solstice here in Santa Barbara. The whole city gets involved, and there is a big parade down State St. Its much like a toned down burningman. And I do not do new years eve. At all.

no, sort of in the lull space between the reckless mindless last acquisitions, and the prep (wrapping) and cooking (potatos au gratin: this year with red potatoes, caramelized onion and a kind of manchega cheese, reduced cream instead of a roux based cheese sauce. I have a gluten free person to consider this year. My nephews think I have a recipe. I never know what I'm doing, but they like "my potatoes.") It's the least Christmas-y Christmas I've had in years. I hope to have fun tomorrow. We sit around and wait for dinner, and play with new toys. I'm going to take the cupholder radio controlled tank, and practice for Burning Man. I got my sister a neat jigsaw puzzle, and although I hate (not hate, more like a dog being pointed at the t.v. set and just not getting it) working on the puzzle, I do really like sitting around and talking with her while she works on it. Nope not in a big hurry.

tpbm isn't sure how to spend the evening.
