Last night's dinner... Beans, onions and bacon - smothered in ketchup.

I just had to bump this. I would like to hear what y'all are doing for this most wonderful time of the year.
I finished up the sewing, but will probably sneak a few more rounds before the 25th. Sewing is good therapy. I got the cards out yesterday. Yep, I mail card stock and lick the stamps. It's an old custom that I enjoy doing. Last night I made impossible pumpkin pie, cause I'm a lazy fuck and not fond of pie crust anyway. I love watching Xmas movies.
That's how I do xmoose.

I sorta hide through the holidays. tough time of year, on some of us.
I try to make it nice for kids around me and all, but, would really rather just sit in the Hof and sip cognac and eat pork.

Sounds wonderful. I've never had cognac. I've led a sheltered life :coffee:

Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Used to have a shiny nose
Now if you were to see it
You would say it's stiff and froze

All of the other reindeer
Look before they cross the lane
They saw the snowplow coming
At least there wasn't any pain

On that foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say
Even thoough we'll miss our friend
Tonight we're eating venisen

Then how the reindeer loved him
As they ate their christmas deer
Rudolf the Road-kill Reindeer
Not a bit of gristle here!

Rudolf the red nose cowboy
Had a very shinny gun
And if you ever saw it
You would turn around and run

All of the other cowboys
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolf
Join in any poker games

The one foggy Christmas eve
Santa came to say
Rudolf with your gun so bright
Won't you shoot my wife tonight

Then all the cowboys loved him
As they shouted with glee
blah blah blah the rest of the song
My cats are cuter than your grandkids!

What to do with chocolate kisses past their expiration date:
Kisses & peanut butter cookies
48 kisses
1/2 cup lard (fuck shortening!)
3/4 cup organic creamy peanut butter (no hydrogenated oil in my peanut butter!)
2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon molasses (or however much you think appropriate to make 1/3 cup of white sugar into 1/3 cup "brown sugar")
1 egg (local for preference)
2 tablespoons milk (enough editorializing)
1teaspoon vanilla

Cream all this together with beaters.
Stir in:
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

You'll probably need to do final mixing with your hands.
Roll into 1 inch balls. Sprinkle with sugar. Squish a kiss into the top of each.
Bake 375 for 10 minutes. They don't rise.

Horrible movie that requires alcohol to swallow

Thinking I could retire from mothering I moved to Kalispell and back to Marin.

You cannot escape the reality of living.

Yggy, I would really like to be at the Hof and try to escape again . Cognac is the best !
Lucky, I did bring some 2 years ago sorry if it didn't reach you before Looney finished it off.
If you think it is passable I will hit up my youngest and ask for another hair-raising ride up the hill.

I have done a years worth of collecting gifts.
Now I will bag them , color coded, and I am done.
I ate the cookie dough before it reached the oven.

Skipped the "spark" event at American Steel last night, does that mean I am done for?

I did Santa Con in SF in 2001 (I think). I had made a flannel tiger striped red & black calf length bathrobe and pajama pants. I wore. Black Merry Widow and store bought Santa hat. What I remember is that we were all told up front to be bawdy but legally "good". It was fun, but I haven't had to op to do it again since the one time.

In other news: don't make the cookies I wrote the recipe for above. It sucks, they are too hard and are bland, even w the nutmeg I threw in. I'll find a better one.

And thanks Rhino for the pretzel recipe left at the Bar. That looks yummy but labor intensive. Totally crack for me though.

Ah, the local Walgreens had a pile of santa suits and a sign mentioning Santa Con...

Just the stallion and I here this year. Don't have a tree even. We do have two poinsettias though. I usually make a prime rib thing for dinner when kids etc are here. Think I will get a smallish one and continue the tradition. I work the Friday after so no traveling.

Nothing witty lol

This.

I always volunteer to take call on xmas day because, damn. I do not want to come to your house or invite you over. I make & bake & shop & wrap right up till 12:01 on 12/25 and then I am done. Let me sit in my nightgown and read a book. That's the best gift ever.

The house has all the lights up, I have the kitchen dressed up and will put up the small fake tree today. I need to send cards, wrap a few gifts, and do the neighborhood baking.

And I am painting, I have an invitation to show at an event next month. Wow, huh?
