This is a good thing to know in advance, to avoid some awkwardness on first meetings.
I don't know, I'm open-minded, so he can date a ladder. But bondage with a ladder? That's not in the spirit of burningman.

Why not? If the ladder consents, who are we to judge?

I didn't give a shit what it was but now that we know, I'm almost mildly curious to know what is up there requiring such silly measures to reach.

Well that and eplaya is so dead lately there's little else to ponder.

You should put a big lazy susan under it so as to more easily facilitate the removal of light bulbs. :D

So the answer would be "two". One to hold the bulb and one to spin the ladder.

I am having fun in my brain imagining the specific type of transport he has that will carry only a short ladder but will accomodate that large device. FIGJAM-style Cube Truck?

Fishy!!! You got ANOTHER JRS???? That's 2 I am short now, please forward them to me. :|

Story 1: I know that they make 10' step ladders, and I admit that I have ogled them at the hardware store. But my ladder is my ladder, and I am not just going to leave it because there is a bigger ladder out there somewhere. I'm not that kind of man. With the device my ladder is just as good as those ladders - just as high off the ground, and better actually with the tie downs - I feel more secure up there than when it is just sitting on the ground. I can move freely and do my handywork with more vigorous motions. This is why I made the device, for my ladder and me.

Story 2: I'm rescreening my porch. My backyard slopes upwards at a high angle, and there is an overhang so there is no place to lean an extension ladder once I have the screen up. The 10' step ladders are expensive, and I needed to build a sturdy table for project work anyway, so I made this thing one afternoon.

I like the way you think BB! Of course, he'll need to attach bicycle pedals and gearing so he can spin the whole thing while holding the bulb.

Or put a big bungee up the middle and pre-counter-twist it.

If the ladder tips to the side, assuming the table stays upright, it's what, around a 5 to 1 ratio against the bungee cord?
You need something that will hold it there.

Or is this for sneaking in a weapon of mass projection: bungee cord ladder catapult...

They are actually 1/4" nylon ropes that loop around a 2x4 on the underside. They are tightened with a trucker's hitch, so there is no play and the ladder isn't coming off the table. If we tip over, we all tip over together. The table is also about 75 lbs, so the center of gravity is lowered by about 2 ft.

I do need to install a beer holder.

Haven't you raised the load center of the ladder, as you climb it, since you have not increased the width of the base? making it more unstable than a taller ladder would be with a wider base?
It looks neat, but not necessarily as safe... but I don't have to climb it either. I would have to put a big sign near where my head might be on the last step, "BIG LAST STEP! LOOK DOWN NOW!!" perhaps a few more steps to the ground on the device?
