French Burner, 2013 first timer craving for 2014

Post by TheJoker » Mon Dec 30, 2013 8:44 am

Hi guys !

After 4 months living in denial ("I don't miss BM at all... I mean... No problem... Maybe I'll go back one day, no hurry), I decided to embrace the eplaya, and to finally plan my comeback to the real playa, hopefully next summer.

I'm a 26 years old, Paris-based burner. I camped on my own with a friend, over 7pm and I. We met awesome neighbors, hopefully they'll stop by next year and say hi ?
Next year I'm gonna live in the US for work, so it will be easier to come to BM. If everything works out, I should start my new work in Seattle next fall - a perfect introduction to my new american life would be a second burning man !

Last year I spent quite a lot of money on car rental, camping gear and other BM stuff. I won't be able to save as much money for next summer, since the moving out will also be an important expense. Now that I own the essential camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, goggles, sledgehammer, stakes, etc.), I hope I'll be able to have a "cheap" burning man. If you have any advice on that regard, I'd be very happy to hear it !

For next year, my plan would be to take the Burner Express Bus service, which should be way cheaper than renting a car. My only concern is, how much stuff can I bring with me ? Can I bring a bike, for instance ? I may camp with Orphan Camp : camping with other people but be free of theme camps duties seems good for me.

I hope to see you this summer !

Hi Joker...you should have plenty of time to meet Seattle Burners and arrange transportation, etc. Local Seattle link is [email protected] for happenings in and around Seattle.
Don't bore your friends with all your troubles. Tell your enemies instead, for they will delight in hearing about them.

Thanks for the info !
I'll definitely look into that.

It may be difficult to meet Seattle burners before next Burn, 'cause I won't be moving in the US before early/mid August. But I could try and stop by even if it's kinda last minute, I guess.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Hey welcome to eplaya! We had a group of 5 from Paris last year in our camp, they were a blast!

Anyways if you are looking to join up with a camp check us out. Tom servo and my self run Blood Bath and Beyond. We were located on the corner of 3 and F last year and hope to have the same again. We are a camp of about 50. We plan for the same amount this year if not more. We are a Bloody Mary bar. We have two showers, a large communal space that is shaded and pretty cool In the sun. This year we will have a large 20x20 kitchen with all that you would need to cook along with a 3 compartment sink with running water. This year we are also adding a small dance spot and a small sound system to be able to do more at night for the community. We have a pretty nice set up and really great people from all around the world.
If you are interested, look at our webpage (in my signature) and add your self to our camp Facebook page

The Paris group is on there

Yes we do have a fee but provide a lot for that fee.
If not at least stop by and say hello!
maladroit- Burning Man is like a second job, except you pay to work there.
Burning Man is just the pre party for exodus! - fellow burner during exodus

Hello tatoogoddess,

I just re-connected after a few months of eplaya black out... It feels SO good to see the summer approaching every day a bit more.
I saw your camp last year, it was pretty neat. I'll look that up.
Our first plan for this year was to camp solo again, but we wan't really afford a car rent. We are considering the Burner Express option but I'm a bit worried it's gonna be somehow not feasible. We're aiming for a small camp (2 tents, shade structure, ice chest), but with all the food an water, even 2 big items each may not be enough...

We'll need to think about it, I guess. For my first year, I didn't want to be part of a theme camp because I was more interested in total freedom an roaming free all day/night long without any duties to attend. Maybe this year I could try something different... I'm really social an connect easily with people so that would not be a problem. I love to help others but I also want to make the maximum of my time on the playa...

What kind of organization do you have ? Are there regular shifts to attend ?
