Post by Mia » Thu Dec 19, 2013 5:49 am

Hi there! Burning Man is on my to-do list and I will be going alone (as nobody I know wants to go) I'm here to learn as much as I can in order to make this happen :)

Thank you Maria aka Mia :)

You may think you're going alone, but I met many nice people in Reno my first year and met several more along the way. I knew 50 people before I got to the gate.
Welcome to eplaya and also to a fellow New Englander!!!

Welcome to ePlaya, Mia! I take it you are reading the Survival Guide and the rest of the First-Timer information on the web site? And you might want to sign up for the Jack Rabbit Speaks e-newsletter, which distributes important information about ticket sales and all sorts of things.

Welcome! This will be my first time out there too and will also be flying solo. I was happy to read that message from Sham:

Welcome.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Hi and welcome ! I just arrived on the eplaya as well, after my first 2013 burn.

Are you going to join a theme camp or try camping on your own ? I went solo for my first burn and some people I met during the Will Call line told me it was "ballsy" (quote). After one week in the desert doing OK, I have to (kinda) disagree : if you read enough stuff on the survival guide and on the Preparation section of eplaya, and if you think this through monts in advance, it's really OK. Don't be afraid to try it ! OK, last year might have been a nice one (not too hot, not so much wind, I heard), but still ;-)

Hi there, I'm probably going to be in the same boat going alone. I hope to hook on with people first though. Btw, I'm a New Englander too.

Hi Mia. This will be my first trip also, and I too am planning to go solo from New Hampshire. I'm in Salem. I've done quite a bit or reading and have made some pretty good progress on planning. Looks like I will be flying into Sacramento and renting a car to drive to the playa. Would be glad to share notes, discus car-pooling, etc. Feel free to PM me.

Hi Mia. Thought I would let you know that the New Hampshire regional BM group has a couple of events coming up. One is this weekend in Nottingham, and the other is March 11th in Newmarket. All the details are posted in the Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/BurningManNH/. I don't think I will make it to this weekend's event, but I am planning to go the one on the 11th. Hope to see you there.
