*strolls in, starts ECM, sets out NECC's for whomever may show up, makes CCCB*

Well, I almost got a photo of that rascally raccoon last night!! I pulled in sorts late from Looneytunes place, and clyde was barking strangely, as I came in the house.
he then ran out, and the rascal was about 6' up a little cedar tree. He must have been in at Clydes food, and when I came in startled him.
haha
I ran and got my camera, but as I fumbled with it, he jumped down and took off...........Clyde (the hell hound) hot on his heels!!!
Luckily for Clyde, and me, he didn't catch it.........

and wow, what a deep freeze........hope all our members and friends are doing ok.

This weekend I'm re-roofing my rental house. The bathroom and kitchen ceilings started indicating leakage. I tore off the shingles and I suspect this area, directly above the damaged ceilings, could be the trouble spot. It just doesn't look right.

Morning.. Our little bandits come up to drink from the coy pond.. The light over the pond turns on.. The whole front of the house is windows.. So when they bring the family I get a show.. I close the garage door to the kitty cafe.. The bandits need to find other food..

one-way kitty door... out only. I hung a little brass bell around the doorknob outside, and the kitties would bat at it to make me open the door.
They had me well trained!

Sadly, right now, no kitties live here with me.

Most sunny mornings I have my neighbor's cat Yogi sitting in front of my big picture window, and his buddy Tinker from one door over too. They love treats, the little beggars. Neighbor was upset I could pet her cat and she could not.

Sounds like our house.. There are six cats (that I know of) eat at the kitty cafe.. I put out a warming station that is getting some use..

My neighbor has knocked all the love of cats out of me. She feeds a feral cat colony. Of course that attracts every raccoon, possum and skunk within a mile. I've contacted every official I can think of to turn her in and discourage her. It's a huge mess and she's a bad neighbor. I long for the days when there was a kitty or two, (or 6 or 12).

We're about to get the deep freeze here. Currently 55°, with a precipitous drop to 5° by late this evening! Then on into subzero at some point.

Deep Freeze conditions here. Temperature at 3 degrees. Wind chill at minus 35. 3 inches of snow on the ground and more forecast.

I'm 100% OK. All my utilities are underground (meaning no ice on powerlines that could cut my power). Plenty of food and drink on hand. Cat has food and water (indoor cat).

Hoping all of you are faring as well as I seem to be.

Evening, rhino and BVB!

So cold in fact that from the early predictions made last week the MN Governer decided last friday to close schools statewide on monday due to severe windchill factors.

Stay warm guys!
So the theme this year is like a giant camp out in the desert? With people bringing lots of shit from all over? uh.. -Marscrumbs

Hey! Great to see you Msky! You folks up in MN and surrounding areas get serious about your winters! Yikes!

And ^Rhino!, good to hear that you are hunkered down and in 100% good shape. Why am I not surprised?! Haha

The cold edge of the front behind the rain is rolling through the Bluegrass now, it has dropped from 41° to 33° in about the last half hour or so and sinking fast.

I'd feel guilty telling you what kind of day it's been here... so, suffice it to say,
I don't miss that cold weather at all.

Meanwhile, back to picking thorns out of my hands...

Here, some bag balm for you.

Ooohh, thanks, Bin! A warming drink and bag balm... what more could a girl want!
I have a good magnifier and good tweezers, so it's never a real hassle (unless I back into a cactus). :?

These were prickly pears, getting trimmed in preparation for moving (big) things into my New Shed. Halfway trashed my riding gloves, since I misplaced my last pair of work gloves (yesterday).

It's all good...

*adds more brandy to warming drink*

I had a friend, who visited AZ, and thought you could just eat cactus, so pulled the big thorns off and bit one!
he said his tongue and both lips were stuck together by the "can't hardly see'em" thorns. .........his friends had to pull thorns and such for him, while laughing hysterically.

well, I need to hit it early tonight.......early start tomorrow on that dreaded fence job, with the mean dogs and crack heads..............

wish me luck!!

Whenever I refer to 'the Chinese downhill of life' I am referring to the observation that life, like the Chinese downhill, has no rules. Nonetheless, I try (nobody says I'm successful at it, but here goes anyway) I try to remember also that while aging is mandatory, growing up is optional. I still browse toy stores once or twice a year to look at the neat stuff.

Never give up, never give in, never surrender. Look life straight in the eye.

Hope you enjoyed your dancing!

The first orange tree I ever saw was in Phoenix, and covered with bright orange, plump-looking oranges. Coincidentally, it was also the first time I'd ever heard of "ornamental" oranges. Ptoooie, and, yuck. They aren't edible.
