I appreciate all of your words...I don't have much family anymore....you Burners are the closest thing to family I have. I feel that when I found TTITD, I found my place in the cosmos, finally. Mom was in a place she didn't want to be in for the last 2 1/2 years. Before she started failing, she and I spoke often about it. I did the full-time caretaker thing for a year, and many of you know what that is like. I finally had to throw in the towel and put her in a nice nursing home. What a fucked up deal. Not fair. We were great friends, had a ton of big adventures together, she was always outgoing and active. In my heart I know she is in such a better place now, but it has only been 7 hours....still sorting shit out here. The Temple is going to be a tough one this year. Thank you all, you help me more than you know. Craig.

Hey mgb, I feel for you. I went through something similiar with my step dad. The only way I held it together was the constant reminder that anything was better than what he went through those last days.

Dont hold anything in. If you feel like bawling your ass off, do it. It never goes away, but it gets easier. The days you grieve start to get shorter, and further apart.

I am so sorry. My sister's been gone 18 years. (I think. I allow myself to be fuzzy on this date.) I still think about her and miss her often.
The first six months though... I'm not going to say brutal, because I was in a cocoon of numb. Take good care of yourself for at least 6 months to a year. I always thought Margaret would be close till we were little old ladies.
I'm sofuckking sorry.

Maybe I will show up on the playa this year to make him something for the temple.
Or maybe fuck it I should go to Hawaii. He loved beaches.

Thanks you guys... man I could tell you stories about him.
Back in its heyday he managed the dance club/bar at the Rainbow on Sunset strip. He knew everyone famous in Rock & Roll.
When he was younger he was a roadie for Led Zeppelin.
I credit his advice for fixing my broken life. My life has been a constant succession of relationship train wrecks.
He told me "go with the one that likes YOU the best" and finally doing what he said put me with Charlie, the "First Mate".
Things have never been better.
John B... he was one of those larger-than-life people. I always looked up to and envied him.
It turned out he actually admired my life and things I did, building things, the cars I put together, etc.
But his stories and adventures top mine by far. The way he lived didn't amass him any property or net worth; he died broke. But he had taken life for a hell of a ride, he didn't waste it.

Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Oh, Captain G that hits me close to home; my own dear brother is fighting cancer right now, and knows his time is running out. :| (((((((hugs))))))))) to you.

Another sad loss: the nephew of a close friend of mine, a nice young man, went to work as per usual today and was shot dead:
